I play on PC with no mods and the same thing happened to me. It gave me a "Script Call Fail" message. I had opened an existing game where I had been using the board. When I opened the game after the patch, the board was missing and I couldn't place another. I also noticed a large, faint white box around the board when I tried to place it. I don't know if that's related or if it's always been that way.
