[CD] Captain Whitaker is no longer a ghost

Captain Whitaker is alive in my game too on new and old saves. PS4, sims 4 updated to most recent patch (2.12.25)  

Any ETA on when this will be actually fixed? I have a mod that fixes him, but seriously... how was this missed when beta testing Life & Death and how hard can it be to restore him, especially if a modder already did it? 

He lived out his dog life and aged up to an elder, eventually died of old age, then visited his grave, and then was added back to my household as a ghost dog. Just adding this in case it is helpful information.

I am also having this issue. Captain Whitaker spawned in as an alive stray dog on my lot after I added the dog hangout lot trait.

I have this issue too. Unable to complete Friend of the Animals aspiration unless I kill off one of my pets and even then possibly the bug will just not let them die.

jinxyyboo  Since they added the death type UI in CAS, and the only death type available for pets is old age, it’s currently impossible to make pet ghosts unless they’re elders. It’s discussed here: [CD] Captain Whitaker is no longer a ghost | EA Forums - 11969753 

I know people dont really play with ghost pets much, so i’ve never seen this bug reported. But in a modded save I tried to turn a pet cat into a ghost via cheats. I looked up the cat’s sim id, then used the cheat: traits.equip_trait ghost_oldage id. That did nothing after like 5 tries. So then i added a ghost cat from the gallery and as soon as i exited CAS, the cat was alive despite the gallery household photo showing the ghost cat. 

i made a completely unmodded and cc free save and tried it again, same issue. I even went to the cemetery in Brindleton Bay. All living pets, no ghosts. If I use mcc command center to cheat death from old age, the pet disappears. And then when i summon them, the pet spawns up…alive and well. 

This has been happening since Life and Death and I’ve tried literally everything. 

I have this problem  with ghost pets in general. As soon as I'm out of CAS, they're just regular pets. I can't even use cheats to turn them into ghosts. Nothing happens. 

Yes, he has been that way since Life & Death came since pets can only die of old age. Therefore, Captain Withaker's existence was an anomaly, which led to him being alive and well in the game now. It has been reported here:
