For those who are getting the save corruption bug, how large are your save files?
- pessyl923 months agoSeasoned Veteran
42,3MB
Save size doesn't matter
Few days I forgot delete NPC, and my sim start career on police station - then game generate more NPC and when i back to home i had "default lots".
So I delete all homeless "families" (1 sim per household) and all back to normal.
No adding "for rent lot", playing only one, own family (generation), deleting ghosts from game etc. and this generated, homeless NPCs broke my save, eh- rjssim3 months agoSeasoned Ace
Thanks for the information. If they know they can't fix this bug, they shouldn't be releasing new content for a broken game. I always wanted TS4 to just continue forever, but now it's a different story. Maybe it would have been better if they started from scratch and carefully made a TS5.

My save files average between 200MB to 260MB.
I also noticed that the default lots also re-appear when the game breaches a certain amount of RAM usage whilst in game. This is probably more relevant for legacy gamers who have large save files and a ton of cc.
My game hit 18GB of RAM usage and all of a sudden whilst in game the default lots started re-appearing. I exited the game, restarted and the default lots disappeared (because when you start the game the RAM usage is less).
For reference i have a powerful gaming laptop (64GB RAM) so the issue is not PC performance related.
The RAM usage increases whilst you are playing and and start to travel around to different lots so it will happen again whilst in game if you play long enough. Worth noting that i've deleted tons of lots in different worlds just to reduce the default lot issue from happening but it always re-appears and needs to be sorted because it is a game-breaking bug.
Some other things i've noticed is that the loading screen stutters a fair bit. This is an obvious tell-tale sign for me that the bug has re-appeared in the game.
For reference this issue has been happening before 'For Rent' although i noticed it after that pack was released. Basically EA haven't coded the game to survive this long and as result the creeks are showing. They should stop selling more packs because all it does is exacerbate the issue when more lots are added to the game (prime cause of the issue in the first place).
EA also removed the orange exlamation marks over the lots that were corrupted so now we don't even know which ones to look for! Its treacherous behaviour from EA, they are completely screwing their customers at this point...the only saving grace is that their greed will eventually be the reason they have to resolve this issue because it wont be long before 90% of their users are affected essentially becoming a P1 issue.

Thanks for this information.
Are you a rotational player? 200 MB is a very large save file.
How much RAM does the game normally use when you play? 18 GB seems insane to me. I run my game with a ton of mods/CC, large overloaded lots, a save file from 2018, maxed settings, ReShade etc. and I've never even seen my computer use 10 GB or close for this game.

Hi i do rotate households but not very often. I've been playing the same legacy save since i started playing the game in 2018. Sometimes i use Razer Cortez just to reduce a bit of RAM usage but yea i hit 18GB after about a few hrs of gaming. I have every kit and expansion pack. Ive populated every lot but have had to remove all lots in Chesnut Ridge, Mt Komorebi, Willow Creek, Moonwood Mill, 50% of Ravenwood, Granite Falls, Selvadorada and random lots in other worlds and the bug is still there.

Mine is 62.5MB and it just happened to me again after I started rebuilding after the first time this happened. I'm officially done playing this game until they fix it because it's a huge waste of time for me to keep rebuilding and not even get to play before it corrupts🫠

Thank you for letting me know. I guess it doesn't matter if any of the other bugs get fixed if this one is still present because the game is just flat out broken with this bug. At this point it's safe to say that they are literally trying to profit from a broken product that they know is broken. What concerns me even more is the fact that they know the game is broken are selling it, yet they decided to lay off all those people on the bug fixing team based on what I have read and clear evidence as presented in the very small recent laundry lists. Are they gonna do something about this? The right thing to do is to hire more people on the bug fixing team.
