I don’t think EA will ever fix this bug.
And I say that because the last update on this matter was along the lines of, "We tried to replicate the issue and couldn’t." It’s been several EPs since this issue started booming, and still no answers.
I really don’t understand how they can’t replicate it, considering we’ve been explaining how it happens over and over. I have two guesses:
- They aren’t testing at all.
- They aren’t testing the right way.
I’d be more than happy to help them with this, since I was one of the first to discover this bug back in the day when we only had the Get to Work EP (yes, 10 years ago). I reported it on EA Answers, and guess what? It was closed with no resolution.
I had a gut feeling this bug would come back to haunt all Simmers in the future—and I wasn’t wrong.
The bug is somehow related to the amount of content in the game. Not just lots and rentals, but also businesses, clubs (social groups), occults (especially fairies and werewolves), tattoos, reference paintings and more.
As they keep adding more neighborhoods and customization options, save files are getting heavier and hitting their max capacity much faster.
The result is: the game has alike built-in "escape valve" that deletes old content to preserve the new—which is why Willow Creek, Oasis Springs, and Newcrest are always the first targets to corrupt.
I did some new testing and found that the bug is now happening even sooner since we got a new neighborhood. Before, it was more frequent while building in Tomarang, but now, Willow Creek deletions are already happening by the time we reach Chestnut Ridge.
I honestly don’t know how they’ll fix this, and in my opinion, the bug is deeply tied to the game’s core limitations. It’s been 10 years—I don’t think The Sims 4 was ever meant to last this long.
