Sims are not moving/Freezing/Animation problems (after Patch 1.112)

Game Version: 1.118.242.1030 (September 18, 2025 patch) – Steam (linked with EA App)

Platform: PC – Windows 10/11 (Steam install)

Mods/CC: Occurs with and without mods/CC. Confirmed in a clean “vanilla” test with no saves, no mods, and newly generated Sims 4 user folder.

Steps to Reproduce
        1.      Launch game on current patch (vanilla, no mods).
        2.      Start a new save with new household.
        3.      Direct a Sim to perform standard actions (tested with violin practice, dancing, washing hands, eating, etc.).

Expected Result

Sim performs the chosen action normally (e.g., plays violin with violin in hand, dances only when instructed, goes to sink to wash hands, eats food at table, etc.).

Actual Result

Sims glitch out and play incorrect/misaligned animations:
        •       Sim “plays violin” while standing away from violin (e.g., in the corner of the room, violin not in hands).
        •       Sim will “dance” instead of performing the instructed action.

        •       Other mismatched animations also occur, making gameplay effectively unplayable.

This occurs in both new and existing saves, with and without mods, even after full reinstall.

What I Tried
        •       Updated all mods/CC (then removed Mods folder completely).
        •       Deleted localthumbcache.package.
        •       Cleared caches.
        •       Moved out all saves and started a brand new save.
        •       Uninstalled and reinstalled via Steam.
        •       Ran a full “vanilla test” (new Sims 4 folder, new save, no mods).
        •       Verified integrity of game files via Steam.

Issue persists in all cases.

        •       Problem began only after updating to Sept 18, 2025 patch.
        •       Similar animation/action bugs are mentioned in EA’s Laundry List for this patch, but this specific violin/dance glitch doesn’t appear to be listed yet.
        •       Affects base game interactions, not just expansion content

I'm having this issue too. I thought it was my mods causing it but I did a complete vanilla save and completely uninstalled & reinstalled it with a brand new game (removed all my saves & mods) and it's still doing it. I managed to take a video of what's happening. I'm so glad it's not just me! I thought I'd broken it by not updating my mods!

When I play any household even a new saved file, all Sims do is just stand there as time goes by. I will click on an object for example at home lot the bed and click on relax or sleep, the action will cue but my Sim will just stand there with no movement. Also if I force travel them to another lot for example the gym not only my Sim but all the townies do nothing but stand there one or two sims dance but no one does any other action as time goes by.  no matter what I tell them to do they just stand there. I have no Mods/CC installed. I have attached the DxDiag. Any tips or fixes much appreciated as right now all i can do is use CAS with no CC or Mods is no fun as game play is down.😣😫 I have tried repairing the game, there is no Mods/CC. I have tried resting the Sim in game play still no luck

I have the same issue. Guess we're all on this thread because we're experiencing the same thing...

Bri423​ QueenSaraphine​  Please test a new save in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

Don't download anything from the Gallery for this test.  Just use fresh or already-present sims and a blank or default EA-made lot.

If this doesn't help, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

i'm having an issue where sims are not responding to commands just to stand still no matter what interaction i load up. build mode and cas are fine, but live mode is unplayable

all of my mods are updated and i've removed outdated mods. I've done the 50/50 method and nothing has changed.

better exceptions mod keeps giving me "constraints.py" as a result.

Is it a very cluttered lot? From searching around google, I'm seeing that this error is about sims not being able to access things. Does the same thing happen on every lot?

After the 18 September update, my Sims 4 having issue with the sims not moving or won't do any action as instructed such as cooking, sitting, take bath and various other actions. They will only idle and not moving. Things I have done include removing all mods and cc, uninstall and installing the game, repairing game, resetting the sims, deleting caches and saves but same issue still occurred. I did use Better Exceptions mod to identify the problem which is constraint.py (?). During this time, no other mods or cc installed.

My sims won’t do anything, they just get stuck while time flies. I tried everything, removing my mods, another save, repairing and redownloading my game, reseting my sims, nothing works. Sometimes they will do one action and then it’s back again. 

I think the glitch was already there, but I could go back to manage world and then the sim would work but not since the last update. 

So my game is dead… I can still build stuff at least…

I have uninstalled, reinstalled, repaired and even did the -dx11 thing. It says, "no problem found". NOTHING works! My sims still freeze; stop any command they are doing. When prompted to do another task, it doesn't let them. They just stand there and glitch. Can't give them a task, but everything else I am able to click on. Time speed, tasks, build mode. I can even exit without force quitting. I have never been hit with the "bugs" before, but this one is really irritating. If it is a pack causing it, I will happily take that pack off. I don't own many. Never had any mods or CC. PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE!
