F1® 25 Q&A - Gavin Cooper (Creative Director)
Hello drivers! We hope you are very excited for the upcoming F1® 25 game! Last week we released our F1® 25 My Team & Driver Career Deep Dive. There are a lot of exciting things happening, and to keep the wheels going we are going to host a Q&A with Gain Cooper (Creative Director)! Here's a little bit from him! "I've been in the industry since about 1998, when my hobby of making levels for the games I was playing with my friends got me a job doing more of the same. Over time my skills and my interests led me more towards game design roles, and I was well-established as a design lead when Codemasters acquired the studio I was working at in 2008. In my early years I worked on a variety of different kinds of racing games such as Rollcage Stage 2 and LEGO Racers 2. After a brief diversion into the field of action games (Cold Winter and 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand) and a cheeky bit of more casual racing fun (Toybox Turbos and F1 Race Stars) I've now transitioned into my "grown up racing" phase, where as Creative Director I've headed up the design efforts on the odd-year F1 titles since F1 2019. Very much looking forwards to seeing players get their hands on F1® 25, and until then I'm happy to answer what questions I can!" Please, post your questions below and we'll collect them during the week for Gavin to answer. Use the Like button at the top of each comment to vote for your favourite questions. Gavin will answer the most upvoted ones! Before starting, here are some quick guidelines: One post, one question. Try to limit yourself to a question per post, as it will be easier to collect them. The focus of this Q&A is on Career Modes. If you have a question about soundtracks or other aspects of the game, it is probable that Gavin doesn't have the answer for you. There are some things he cannot answer, such is the nature of game development. Remember the Closed Beta is under NDA. Please refrain from asking any questions regarding the Closed Beta. You can throw in some fun questions too! Favourite cars, F1 memories, F1 pilots... As always, keep things fun, fair and respectful. We have also prepared a small list of F.A.Q. regarding My Team to avoid redundancy: You said My Team has been fully revamped, what changes have been made? One of the biggest changes is that originally, players acted as both Owners and Drivers of their team. Although there have been some examples of this throughout F1 history, it is not the most common setup in the sport. So, now the mode will be redefined to more accurately represent the sport, and the role of the Owner will be focused on running the team. The new My Team will place more emphasis on managing the fates of both drivers. When race weekend comes around, players can choose either of them to get behind the wheel. The progression system has also been updated. Owners will battle to improve the Fan Rating of their team by achieving objectives and winning key Rivalries against other teams in the championship. Away from the track, players will also run the operations from an all-new Team HQ, an evolving space that will grow in scale, population, activity, and branding as the player builds the team’s reputation and staff. The size of the workforce, development costs, and facilities costs will play a big role, owners need to be careful not to breach the cost cap Research and Development are also now separate branches, giving players the flexibility to choose when they manufacture a new part and how to apply it. For instance, completing only one of a new upgrade package is faster, but then they will need to choose which driver gets the upgrade first, which will affect their motivation and the player’s leverage in contract negotiations. Sponsors matter more than ever, unlocking extra benefits and customisation options. Each sponsor’s brand values will impact the team in terms of expectations and goals they expect you to achieve. Relationships with sponsors will develop over time. As fan rating increases, players will also need to balance their legacy sponsors that have been there from the beginning with more lucrative offers from new brands. How has Driver Career been improved this year? Players can now have more control over driver Icons. They can choose to enable or disable each of the individual driver Icons and, for the first time, whether the AI teams can recruit Icons. The mode will also benefit from the Konnersport and movie content integrated into the game. Players will be able to add an eleventh team to the grid, either Braking Point’s Konnersport, or the APXGP team from F1 (exclusive to the Iconic Edition). Thank you in advance for submitting questions and taking part! We hope to bring you more in the future and look forward to chatting with you all!SolvedEA_Groguet2 months agoCommunity Manager2.1KViews11likes60CommentsPSVR2 F1 25
Dear EA team, dear f1 community, Is there any possibility, any chance that you develop a psvr2 compatibility for f1 25? Even a slight possibility? Is this still on the table or there is absolutely no chance? I've seen vr footage of racing games like GT7 and the experience seems absolutely awesome, in terms of immersion and speed sensation. I plan on buying psvr2 but at heart I love f1 so i would love it on an f1 game I saw a lot of comments and requests about a vr support so there is traction for this technology. thanks!3.3KViews13likes32CommentsNo Crash/ No AI mistake in career mode
Same as f1 2024, driver career mode with all the setting turned on (including simulation damage) AI aren't making any mistake during the whole race and there's no AI to AI collision. Also, AI won't PIT after a crash with a user player. makes all the race really boring with nothing happening except engine failure (once per race). race length : Medium (20ish laps). Please EA work on that issue to makes the race more challenging. regards,Kolvanev15 days agoRising Scout700Views4likes22CommentsCant seem to download F1 25
I got EA play pro and i should be able to download the game on PC, but everytime i try i get an error saying there is something wrong with the download, is this an issue on EA's side or is the game not available yet?BobbyFCGMast15 days agoNew Rookie453Views0likes22CommentsWill the fanatec SDK be implemented in f125?
Is there anyone here who would know if the new fanatec sdk for xbox to unlock button mapping and LED function is implemented? I have been waiting for so many years and fanatec is claiming it is coming soon. I would be very disappointed if for some reason EA decides to not implement.delipride3212 months agoRising Rookie934Views8likes22CommentsF1 25 livery
First hello everyone, I come here to comment that I pre-ordered F1 25 iconic edition, so in this edition we have the right to have the livery of the 2025 season on F1 24, so I installed the pack on my F1 24 and when I go to play and I go on the counter-clock mode, I can't find the 2025 livery, yes I installed the livery pack, that's why I come to write here, thank you in advance and if someone could help me it would be great, have a good day everyone!SolvedTonyr73323 months agoRising Novice796Views4likes21CommentsAbout create your own driver on My Team
I never bought the "F1 Manager" series and I buy the "F1" series every year. My question: why would I like or have more fun fantasizing being a bald character who is “just” a team owner instead of creating my own driver in a driving game? Honestly, I have no desire to play as a F2, F3 driver or a retired driver. There are very few realistic driver options for My Team. If they at least kept Ricciardo, Bottas, Magnussen, Perez and Zhou as options, or the current reserve drivers it would be nicer. I didn't think it was a good idea to restrict the creation of your own driver. Just that. A reflection. No hate.eduardonfire14 days agoNew Rookie685Views10likes20CommentsEA keeps discriminating against some Italians in F1 25
Completely ignoring my post, EA continues to discriminate against Italians with the last name "Caputo", an Italian surname so common that even living in the US, I have hundreds of people with it in just my state, and I don't live in New Jersey or New York, so imagine how many must live there. While it's a good idea to not allow names that are offensive on purpose, this is clearly not the case. Just because a string of letters that are part of said last name are offensive in one language doesn't mean the full name is. So it's outrageous that Electronic Arts continues to discriminate against a large part of the Italian population and descendants of Italians around the world, just because part of that name is an offensive term in Spanish. I was outraged to see this in F1 24, and even more outraged to see it in F1 25, because it's been a few weeks since I reported this, and someone at EA should've edited the list of forbidden names by now.Solveddef988c7ad6a592714 days agoSeasoned Rookie336Views0likes18CommentsF1 25 with a CONTROLLER need to improved
There is too much understeer with the controller, and you lose a lot in the changes of direction, like the S of Australia or the last two corners. The problem starts in the middle of the corner, it goes into understeer and goes long. I tried many settings, but it does not improve, I hope you can fix everything and allow those who play with a controller to compete with those who play with a steering wheel. _________ [EA_Garrus] Moved from IT to EN F1 25 Boards. Even with the safety car and red flags set to increased, they are never used. The AI cars in career often break down in very dangerous areas of the track causing yellow flags for a couple of laps - then just disappear and the race continues. This was the same in last year's game too. Please help EA_GroguetBauersome10 days agoNew Scout276Views3likes15CommentsPrice of F1™25 in Poland
Hey, As a Pole, I can assure you that Poland is not richer than Switzerland, Great Britain or Norway. The current price, which is the highest in the world (as you can see in the screenshot above), is simply too high and unacceptable. This is due to the outdated exchange rate, which does not reflect the current economic situation. This is not a matter of temporary fluctuations - these conditions have been in place for many months. Let's look at the table below. Price in USD Exchange Rate (PLN/USD) Converted Price in PLN Current Price in PLN Implied Exchange Rate Difference 59.99 3.89 233.36 269.90 4.50 +36.54 PLN According to the current exchange rate, the price should be 233.36 PLN, meaning the actual price of 269.90 PLN is overpriced by 36.54 PLN. The current price of the game in Poland suggests a rate of PLN 4.50 for USD 1, although the actual rate is PLN 3.89. This means that the price is artificially high. I hope you will hear not only my voice, but also the voice of all players from Poland who would like to buy your game at a fair, not inflated price. Best regards!🙂Twojzdarypjany3 months agoSeasoned Novice518Views18likes14CommentsWeather needs to improve!!
I really don't understand the enormous step backwards with this series when it comes to track, weather and environmental effects. Go and look at the rain/spray/haze effects in F1 2010-13 and you'll be stunned at how great they looked. How do we not even have spray at all in these new games over a decade later and 2 console generations on? It seems that they've spent far too much time trying to get every hair on the driver's head right on the game menu, but can't seem to get tyre smoke to appear properly when you lock up. Spray effect in the rain is completely non-existent! Racing in the rain, and dealing with visibility is a crucial skill and huge talking point in real F1, and yet that's not really represented in the game. Think back to the Australian GP at the start of the season. There was a huge focus on the incoming weather, what direction it would come from, what parts of the track could be wet/dry, the intensity, the crossover point between not just wet/dry compounds, but the inter/wet (full wet is entirely useless in F1 24) We don't have any of these issues in the game. F1 2012, a 13 year old game from this very studio, launched with new feature: Dynamic Weather/Live track, with weather fronts making it rain on some parts of the track, but dry on another. We had puddles forming and wet/dry lines appearing, we had to adjust our racing lines to avoid aquaplaining, to cool tyres and stick to the dry line like a train if we gambled on going back to dry tyres.... This has slowly declined over the last decade. Now when it rains, we just get a blanket transition over 2-3 laps and it rains with the same consistency around the entire track! There seems to be very little change in grip until 2 corners before our engineer tells us to switch to inters where the grip level drops like a switch has gone off. There is no incentive to try anything different, and so all players peel off into the pits at the exact same time. Lap time and grip is not influenced or effected by the player at all! Same when it starts to dry up. The transition back to a dry track is almost instant. In real life, we still see a set surface for a while. Why is the transition not varied? Why is it always the same? The game needs to introduce a weather radar track map for players on the grid before the race, or to view during Qualifying too. We see this visual every time we watch a real race. We see the localised weather and what direction its coming from, and yet in game we still have the same Icons and percentage chance of rain that are never accurate, and have been the same since F1 2010. Where is the improvement here? Let's talk about the visibility? It's clear as day in the game. You can drive an inch behind an opponent as see as clear as in the dry. No spray at all! Go back and play F1 2010-13 and the featured some incredible rain effects. That was back on the Xbox 360!!!! Not just the spray, but the way the screen would haze up when you changed line and drove in someone's wake. It was so much more realistic. How do we not even have spray at all on far superior hardware?? Something has gone very wrong there! These are features that would bring some serious realism and authenticity to the player "ON-TRACK" so it's really frustrating that year on year, the only new features we see are new menu screens for My Team. Hotel names in Vegas and cherry blossom trees in Japan.... Please prioritise some real changes that improve the racing experience instead!SDGMatt2 months agoSeasoned Ace370Views7likes13CommentsAutohotkey
So, I just fired up the game for the 2nd time ever today and got this nugget. Duly searched the forum and no hits, Google - no hits. Anyone care to explain why? Have been running this alongside all the F1 games on PC since version 1 (now 2.0.19) literally just blocks of auto text and a '(Current)Window On Top' functionality (which I believe is actually supplanted by Windows Powertoys functionality (Win/Ctrl/T)). You can't just say you need to not run a piece of software without explaining why, thanks. EA_GroguetSteveJackson14 days agoHero (Retired)382Views3likes12Comments
