What is the point of even having a map for Wildcard?

Can't fight a single soul unless you hot drop and land where the whole lobby does. This gametype has turned from fun, into just a single landing spot and fighting there for the whole game. Then you move just a bit when the map gets smaller.

It's stupid. Why make a map for this if players aren't going to utilize it. It's essentially just a CQC mode now since everyone just lands on top of each other to farm 4k and 20 bombs. (which was dumb as all get up to allow farming of that in this mode)

95% of the map is irrelevant... to 95% of the players in the match. What about the other 5%? Who is me, btw. I want some empty map to help control my pace-of-play. I don't care what other players do, even my own teammates. As a matter of fact, my entire play style is dependent on most players in the match having the hot drop mentality. It's been true for me in trios since day one and it's still true now in Wildcard.

And if you're that player who thinks you have a binary choice, hot drop with seven other squads or cold drop and not get action until the very end of the match... then you are definitely the player for whom the larger map is a benefit. The great thing about Wildcard (I can't believe I'm praising anything about this s idiotic mode, but here goes) is that the map is exactly the size that you want to be at any given moment. Thanks to the endless zip lines. If your hot drop turns too hot then just zip away, and for once your squadmates who you hang out to dry will actually thank you for giving them a way back into the match. And if your drop turns out to be a little too cold then you can zip directly into the action in about five seconds. And you can even do it alone. You probably SHOULD do it alone so you have a guaranteed respawn. Because it's Wildcard and actions have no consequences until the end of the match, and even then very little.

So, imo, the big map is not a bug. It's a feature.

    the design being wasted.

That’s exactly my point though — if it’s just supposed to be “Reckless Stupidity,” then why even bother putting it on a full BR map? You don’t need Olympus, Storm Point, or KC for everyone to funnel into one POI and fight there the whole game. They could’ve just made a small CQC map or an arenas-style setup if that’s what the mode was meant to be.

I’m not asking Wildcard to suddenly turn into ranked, I’m pointing out that 95% of the map is irrelevant because of how it plays out. It’s less about “logical gameplay” and more about the design being wasted.

  • How did anyone think this mode wouldn't turn into this by about the third day? Everything about it is designed to encourage reckless stupidity. They should rename it "Reckless Stupidity."

Sorry, but if it's tempered and logical gameplay you're looking for then this was never gonna be your go-to mode.

Yeah, I was having so much fun in this game mode and it brought me back to Apex but now people just sit back with a 3030 and gate keep and try to get 4K Tony bombs. Everyone is just trying to get their next badge. They will literally land on you and die. They don’t care.
