If you had been playing Apex since launch, that was linked to an EA account. It would have been linked the first time you tried to launch Apex or another EA title on PlayStation. If you were more recently prompted to log into an EA account and then found your Apex progress missing after signing into a gmail account, it sounds like that Yahoo email or another EA account was originally linked and would be where your progress is still located.
So in this case, you'd need to re-link your PlayStation to whichever EA account it was linked to for all the time you were playing Apex.
Unfortunately, whatever you may have heard in that first sentence of your post is incorrect, as we're unable to make changes to your account or change your position in the support queue here, sorry. They should be able to help make sure you're linked to the correct original EA account however, so please do keep an eye on your case history page for them to get back in touch.
