Yep, same here. This issue was created on Proton to find a fix : https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/4350
Same behavior here, but on desktop Linux. Looks like Apex's EAC is broken for all Linux systems.
- @jack_of_hertz This is not an issue with EAC- it is an issue with some new signature verification function in the game. Respawn did not do sufficient testing to ensure that it works on linux as of late.
@Arya-Furry_Trash I agree with your clarification, the details on the proton github issue are interesting for sure. I'm just too used to it being EAC deployments breaking.
Respawn, if you read this, please at least try to launch new builds on Steam Deck just once before you deploy them. It's always sad to see Apex Legends at the top of Steam Deck: Verified lists when it reliably stops working each new season launch.woah, the game that did massive linux banwaves broke in linux!...... again.
Yea it actually launches the season 19 anti-cheat header image when I launch then a few seconds of black it crashes I am also on Steam Deck.
- @jack_of_hertz Yes I agree personally got my steam deck last January and when season 20 came out I didnt have no issues but now I am this season this ban wave really is unfair since I cannot use my gaming laptop to play rn since im travelling with a 230V inverter which my laptop is household electric needing 240V so I cant play on it.
Until Valve, WINE, or Respawn fixes this, someone made a dirty fix in the github issue. Use at your own risk - It compromises security of your client to bypass the issue - This results in degraded client security and could cause a false positive EAC detection.
Same for me on Arch Linux.
The sad thing is that I predicted it already yesterday to my mates.
Look Respawn & EA how much we have trust in you. -.-
Yes but it is very risky you dont want to get a false positive and get potentially banned then you wont get to play at all
