Of course there are other reasons and factors that could account for the game crashing (such as outdated drivers, software conflicts etc.), but my suggestions have at least helped me with the AVX-related crashing of Apex.
- 5 years ago@tonderr Thank you alot i was about to delete the game, but it actually helped the game didnt crash anymore after i changed my cpu back to stock <3
- 5 years ago@matzesingt were you crashing before or after the aftermarket update? game was running fine for me until this update dropped; now getting the same error-less crash everyone else here is.
The only other difference is that I'm on a ryzen pc so avx offset doesn't exist for us in the bios :\ - 5 years ago@NeuroFuzzy Try setting you CPU all core ratio/multiplier to the stock value.
E.g. for Ryzen 5 3600, set it to 36 (36 x 100Mhz) = 3.6Ghz
See if it has any effect on the crashing. But then again the crashes that you're experiencing might be caused by something new in the "Aftermarket" update.
I myself haven't played yet today, but will play and test game stability later. - 5 years ago
have tried with both stock and precision boost off; still same thing...it's just annoying that i seem to be the only one affected by this...even among other users on ryzen cpus :P
- 5 years ago@NeuroFuzzy Ah that's too bad âšī¸ sorry to hear that!
Well if other Ryzen users aren't experiencing crashes, then it could be anything related to your software, or even your PC parts as a whole (compatibility etc.). Hard to say..
I hope you figure out something! - 5 years ago
go to bios -> AVX offset: 2
Done. - 5 years ago@NeuroFuzzy it started with the patch of season 6, but since i changed what Tonderr said to change, the game runs flawless again

i have a ryzen 7 1700x and getting the same errorless crash. ive tried every fix in the forums and nothing works. just going to uninstall and play warzone until they fix this bugfest game
- 5 years ago@tonderr This is going to be a quick update because a few people cannot read and think they are helping đ
So, if the error-less crashes started for you after the Aftermarket update, it has something to do with account verification, not with any issues with hardware. I've been talking to this user who posted the same issue he's been having, but have noted a weird discrepancy where he can log onto another account using the same pc and works just fine (https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Apex-wont-launch-on-my-account-but-will-with-another/m-p/9569694/highlight/false#M85396). This is definitely an issue only Respawn/EA can fix; nothing the user can do about this. I have also confirmed this by using a friend's account on my pc, and it works just fine. Only trying to log onto my own account do I get the error-less crashes. - 5 years ago@NeuroFuzzy Hey, thanks for the input!
However, I don't think the cause for these crashes is so unambiguous.
At least for me, and some others the fix has been the "AVX offset 2", which clearly makes this issue CPU AVX instructions related. If I reset the AVX offset setting (disable it), the crashes come back. Pretty clear "cause-effect" cycle. This was also an issue back in Seasons 2-4, if I recall correctly the time period.
I also had the issue on my other account on my same PC, so that's likely not what I at least am/was experiencing. But I hope someone else can benefit from this information.
Anyway an interesting find! - 5 years ago@tonderr Its not AVX issue, nor its system issue, its the game issue. I have 3700x and it happens same to me, and it happens since crossplay update, never had any crash before that. I tried everything, all on default, game on default, nothing, still crashed. They * up with update and now they dont know how to fix it.
- 5 years ago@twitch_anarkiiii Yes, we know that Ryzen users are also experiencing crashing to desktop without any error messages.
As I've said before, I'm only reporting my subjective view on the matter, and a solution that HAS fixed the crashing for me and others using newer Intel CPU's. This indicates that there is an issue in how the game handles AVX instructions, as setting an offset has fixed the crashing issue to many people, including me.
If that's hard to understand, it means that the issue is with the game, and not in the CPU/AVX since other games work crash free, even without an AVX offset.
You're right, the crashes came along with an update. For me it was the September 12th patch. For you it could be something else causing the crashing issue (again in the game), since it came with another patch.
In either case, EA and Respawn should really get their things together and learn to fix the issues that they themselves are causing for players. - 5 years ago
I m using xeon x5675 and getting errorlerss crashes. There is no avx settings in bios. This cpu doesnt support avx I think.
- 5 years ago@m4shroom1 It looks like you need to put streaming budged 2-3gb and NOT TO TOUCH ANYTHING in videoconfig.txt.

Game started crashing after the "Fight night" event. The screen basically becomes a black window where the _ â and x symbols are in a grey square and they're split into the upper right and lower left corner of the screen. I can't even go to task manager to shut down Apex, the application is like stuck or something. The only way is to sign out from windows and then log in again. The game was running great (even though I needed to downclock my 24/7 rock solid cpu overclock) and now the new patch ruined things again.

Yeah one buddy in our squad is experiencing the same thing as CroL0co.

Games crashes every single match with the black screen and reuires me to restart pc. Unplayable. Is there a possibility that we don't have to wait weeks or even one week for a quick fix?

It seems the fix is once again to gimp your hardware. The game stopped crashing once I dialed down my 24/7 rock solid GPU overclock by one tick (12mhz on Nvidia Pascal cards).

definetly not a hardware issue
- 5 years ago@CroL0co Did not work for me. still getting crashes
