Apex Legends Gift card not giving me my credits

Recently my friend bought me a $20 Apex gift card and I went to redeem it, nothing changed and I didn't get the credits. I waited 24 hours for something to happen but nothing changed. I also made sure everything is connected and my Steam account is linked with my ea account. I also made sure that I restarted my game and I still don't have my credits. It said I redeemed the card and I did it a second time to make sure It said it was redeemed already, but I didn't get the credits.
