Cannot rejoin previous ranked match after Alt+F4

Due to high average ping, I closed my game by hitting Alt+F4 while in a ranked match. I then restarted the game and tried to rejoin the match that I was in with the hopes that the reconnection would help fix my high ping (This process usually does fix the issue and my ping stabilizes to its normal average).

However sometimes when I do this, the game refuses to reconnect me to the previous match and says that it has ended. I was playing with my friends in a party of three and they were still connected to the match but the game refused to reconnect me. Afterwards, I was hit with a ten minute abandonment penalty and -96 RR for this.

Should I have continued to play the match with 450+ ms ping and everything teleporting around me or should I just uninstall this game, as it seems that no dev actually reads these reports and does anything about it?
