Cross progression, PS account gone

When cross progression was first added I linked my PS account with my EA account, then tried to merge them. When I opened the game it was as if nothing happened, only my PC account was being shown, with nothing from my PS account being brought over. Later when I tried using my PlayStation account on my PlayStation, it was still the PC account. It was as if my PS account had been deleted. Recently I wanted to start playing again, and hoped to use my account so for curiosity I used a third party Apex stat tracker and when I typed in my PS username nothing came up, when I typed in my EA apex username nothing came up, but when I typed in my Steam apex username an account popped up with level 197 (matching my PS one before I lost it), even though when I play now it says my level is level 67. It seems as if the account is still there in the background, just not being displayed. Another interesting thing is when I log in via EA and Steam my username is different, while being the same account.
