Are you on Windows 7?
Myself and another person are having the same problem, and we're both on Win 7. A day ago, Apex was fine before the update. Now, no.
Tried everything I can search for/think of. Steam, EA, complete reinstalls, DLLs, memory scans, VC distributables, .NET repairs, Easy Anti Cheat self-repair, etc.
I suspecting that Respawn have unknowingly done something in the update that breaks for Win 7, and might not even know about it.

Same problem! Also on Windows 7.
Since I updated yesterday Apex to the new Season 17, I can't play the game anymore...
"Error - There is a problem with your game’s setup. Please reinstall your game."
I made a fresh install of Apex Legends, I updated GPU drivers, I reinstalled Microsoft DirectX, and I did a lot more to try to fix this.
But nothing helps.
It is amazing how EA manages to break something on every new season...

I am so fed up with this game.
Every season this multimillion dollar company and its super developer team manage to break such a simple game which is on the market since years...
I hope you are proud of yourself.
You are the biggest loosers of all time.
You steel my money, you steel my time and you steel my confidence in your freaking company.
Just shut down your stupid company.

Same with me, windows 7 seems to get neglected lol, with obvious reason but hey, it still works when it works.
