Horrible Lag

This game lags so bad for me I can’t see what I’m even shooting at. I have played so many other games and had zero issues connecting to online games. My WiFi connection is great, Xbox even says so. My Xbox live connection is great. Apex is the only game that doesn’t work at all

  • Same, except that for some inexplicable reason whenever I join the latest ltm mode where you spawn with armor and a pistol, the game hard lags to the point where I had to leave the game entirely. But the problem is, the lag was so bad that I couldn't even leave the match without having to close the damn game. [Admin - Removed]

    Hey folks.

I know that lag is definitely really frustrating to deal with. I want to try running through some troubleshooting to see if we can help get this fixed here.

First, please try running through the basic connectivity steps over at the EA Help website. Those can help out with a lot of the most common connection-related issues, so that's a good place to start.

If you're still having the same issues after that check out the Xbox-specific steps as well. Let me know how it goes when you have the chance.

  • I have done all the steps to check connectivity and the issue is not with my internet connection or with my Xbox as I am able to play COD warzone and Fortnite and apex is only issue I usually play on the Dallas server and sometimes it's playable for the most part it will go from being ok to where I cannot play due to lag and will either start in a match or will lag as soon as it tries to connect to a match

    Hi @Rossaraus

Have you had a chance to try changing to a different DNS to see if that helps at all? I've seen some cases where using a different DNS can help with issues like this.

To change the DNS on your Xbox follow the steps below:

    1. Open your Xbox Settings and select Network

    2. Select Advanced Settings

    3. Choose DNS Settings and select Manual

    4. Enter 8.8.8.8 as the Primary DNS and 8.8.4.4 as the Secondary DNS. This is the public Google DNS, but if there's a different public DNS you would prefer using that's OK as well.

Let me know how that goes once you've been able to try it out. Thanks!

  • This did not fix the issue either again still lagging and is only happening with Apex legends this is getting ridiculous and I have put way to much money into this game to keep having these issues

    @Rossaraus

Thanks for giving that a shot as well.

Do you have access to a PC on the same network that your Xbox is using? If so, can you try running a UO Trace when you have the chance? That will give us a look at the connection between your device and the servers, so if there's something happening in between we should be able to spot it.

For more info on how to run the test check out the EA Help website. Once you have the results please send them to me in a direct message. Thanks!

  • If you live far from the servers, you're in a remote location, then you're going to have Lag, because of the many Hops you have to take to get to the servers.

EA, that is the first question you should be asking people for, where they are located!

I live 3000 miles away from servers, and of course I have a somewhat high ping, 80-90ms.

Bottom Line: If you live far, you're going to lag, that's all there is to it, of course gaming over WiFi is not good!
