Latest couple of gpu drivers make apex perform worst.Fps stuck at 138

Wanted to try cyberpunk so I downloaded the latest driver which is 460.71 but upon playing apex the game was hovering at 138fps for some reason and the camera was juttery when moving it around. So I went back  to 456.71 and the issue persisted so I went further to 442.59 and the game is back to a smooth 141 with no bad camera jutter.

This on a 1080ti,9900k,970 evo SSD,16gb Ram.Could be a 1080ti issue so I'm displaying my rig for anyone wondering.

Update:Got a 3080 and have the exact same issue.Frametime a bit errattic and the fps hovers at around 138fps.This time I can't go back drivers tho so I'm stuck till a new driver fixes the issue.

Update:Found another poster with the very same issue https://www.reddit.com/r/apexlegends/comments/jahljg/apex_locked_at_138fps_after_nvidia_reflex_update/

UPDATE2:

I tried putting a frame limit of 137 with Riva tuner (because the game inherently stops at 138 for some reason) and its sooooo much smoother.Frametime is 95% of the time at a constant 7.2-3ms

I tried putting frame limit of 137 with nvidiaCP and the frametime was * again. So the Nvidia limiter/reflex is not working correctly. There's something up with the drivers for sure.

Thanks for the info, I will repost the specific driver set so we can mark a solution:

  • Most likely due to NVIDIA Reflex feature.

The fact that since it came out on October 12, 2020 alongside 456.71 driver version, we can't turn it off, shows how much EA/Respawn/NVIDIA care about it.

Apex Legends Adds NVIDIA Reflex, Improving Gameplay Responsiveness

NOTE: Due to a bug, NVIDIA Reflex can not be disabled at this time. We will remove this note once the bug has been resolved.

This message has been there since the date i mentioned above.

Not even an option in-game since then to enable/disable the feature.

    Shame.

  • @wiseolddude My wife and I used to have 2070 Super and 1080ti in our machines and it used to be butter smooth. Now we both have 3080s and it’s really bad, wish we could go back to earlier drivers but we can’t
  • Yea I also play apex and am getting a 3080 soon.I won't have the choice to go back drivers then so I'm gonna have to stop playing because I'm not playing it in its current mess.

  • Yep Exact same issue with my new 3080.Frametime a bit jumpy and the fps stopping at around 138 fps.(had to use the latest driver because of the 3080)

Il uninstall the game for now till it gets fixed.

Hey man. I remember you from before, we had a chat about adjusting g-sync, low latency and reflex and at that point we came to the same conclusion that reflex is messing something up with the stutters.

Have you tried out the latest drivers maybe?

If Nvidia fps limiter is the problem the recommended setting would be to not use Nvidia fps limiter or ultra low latency (because it also locks the FPS based on the monitor refresh rate) and instead use Riva tuner? What about reflex, can it be turned on if we use Riva tuner for limiting the fps?
