Cross progression will only merge the platform accounts connected to a single EA account.
EA accounts can't be merged, this also means you won't be able to merge 2 Xbox accounts for example.
@XHelperZ I hope they BACKUP every account prior to merging and deleting the non-master accounts. Why? Because Respawn never seems to release something without bugs, and I already feel like players are going to be set to the wrong account, or have a fully resetted account that "can't be fixed".
Again, I hope they backup data, because if it ends up bugging out, no one is going to be happy with Respawn.- XHelperZ2 years agoHero+
Will most likely be the case, though of course I can't confirm that yet.
They will be merging accounts in waves, so if any issues are spotted, they'll have time to fix it and the amount of accounts affected will be lower.
Respawn has been taking the safe route with cross progression as far I'm aware, since they didn't want to push it out unless they were 100% convinced it wouldn't cause any data loss.
- @XHelperZ yeah, that's what it sounds like what they're doing, but can't help the feeling that something is going to somehow go wrong and affect a lot of players.
- @XHelperZ Within the first 48 hours of S19, a few players ended up with their accounts fully reset back to level 1 with all their cosmetics and stats being lost.
I would say I called it, but honestly it wasn't that hard to predict considering how past updates have gone.
No idea why accounts weren't just copied over to a test server and have them merged on that for testing. If it worked, cool, if not, delay cross-progression a bit longer.
Its a big update, so I didn't expect it to be perfect, but having it reset several accounts? That's no good.
