Model Details stuck to Medium / Notice about VRAM (Streaming Textures - NONE)

Since yesterday, atleast I noticed then, my model details are always on medium as soon as I start game. Despite changing them to low (I wanna have settings on low), nothing changes. Also every time after starting game, I have red notice as error about high vram usage over 4gb vram, despite having Streaming Textures on NONE (as soon as I change none-low-none notice goes away). If I don't do that I do get performance loss which is not there in case that I make that notice go away.

  • Ok, the only way that I found to fix it is to edit file "videoconfig.txt" (Documents\Saved Games\Respawn\Apex\local)

    You need set "setting.r_lod_switch_scale" to any number lower than 1 but not lower than 0 (for example 0.6) Than lower is number than lower model details will be.

  • My model details are stuck on high and I can't set them to low or medium because after applying and returning to the video settings the setting is on high again.

    Also @zimzimbre assuming the setting works as worded, setting the streaming budget to "None" should remove a limitation on the VRAM. The setting is called "streaming budget". If you have no budget then you have no limit of VRAM consumption, meaning it's a higher setting than the one all the way on the right. I suggest you just set this to 4GB.

    That is not true. If you set to NONE textures are completely blurry and without actual coloured textures. That is lowest possible setting.

  • Didn't consider trying the config file since there should be no reason it isn't writable. Mine was set to 1 and I went and checked the minimum number required to set it to Medium. Below are all the setting minimums:

    0 = Low
    0.8 = Medium

    1 = High

    Setting it to anything via this method will still result in the settings being stuck in-game but it's a nice workaround for now.

  • Hello! I was wondering what you did to fix your vram problem.

    Thanks.
