I have this exact same problem, however, nowhere does it say "repair". It's stuck at 8.46 GB as well, and just says "preparing". I left it overnight, and it's still stuck. Uninstalled and reinstalled Origin which did not fix the problem.
You have to cancel the download > game library > right click > repair
i cant cancel it, im having the same problem. its stuck at 6GB for me and wont let me click pause or cancel. all i can do is click on properties and theres no repair option either
Go to Origin Top Left Corner,then go offine, cancel update, go back onine, start downloding the game/update were you were.
