Prediction error, UCMD delay, Unplayable lag

Origin name: saladpepe

Apex has been giving me, as well as many other players across PC, Xbox and Playstation these prediction error, UCMD delay issues that cause the game to stutter to an unplayable amount.

In game performance displays 0/0 packet loss, 0/0 choke and ping is stable between 20-30. Yet, the game suffers heavily from these lag spikes.
my troubleshooting steps:

restart pc
-restart router/modem
-replaced ethernet cords
-updated/reinstalled drivers.
-repaired game
-reinstalled game
-disabled in game overlays
-swapped servers
-removed other devices from network
-anti cheat priority low in task manager
-DNS cache flushed
-50% of space open on nvme ssd
-tried vpn
-disabled all programs except game launcher

I’ve posted on apex subreddit with a video example of my lag spikes with many people reporting the same issue, as well as many other posts on that sub as well as this forum.
Attached are the two chats I had with two EA support members. I was told after the first chat that a Game Advisor would reach out to me, yet never did. I then contacted again and this time was told that there’s simply no server issues (c🙂 and that I should contact Microsoft for further troubleshooting because “there's nothing we can do to make your Computer work in your favor” (maybe in reaching but this felt condescending). All in all, I was hoping to get some more answers but was just told to contact Microsoft (who doesn’t actually manage any hardware just the operating system) which is just a done-before dead end. Honestly, I’m hoping this post just draws more attention to people with similar issues, and maybe a lovely employee browsing this forum will mention it to someone. After all, I just want to play and support this game!

  • For those who are still experiencing this, I solved the problem by uninstalling Norton the anti-virus thing. It was somehow capping the performance of some of my CPU cores, causing a bottleneck.
I've also tried every single one of the solutions online and they all seemed to have solved the problem for a few games, but later on, the problem returns. In the end, I noticed that if I didn't open anything else other than the game, the lag showed up way less. That's when I finally noticed that my CPU is not being used fully and I found out some anti-virus programs tend to cause that.
The thing is UCMD delay can be caused by too many different types of things, so I just have to try them all.
