Re: Apex overheating GPU

Sorry to hear that you re having issues @NoNamePew.

It's worth taking a look at the heat values of your laptop,  you can use something like HWMonitor to do this: https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

Just a note, this HWMonitor a third party program and as such we don't endorse or support it so read up a little on it before installing.

Using HWMonitor you'll be able to see if your system is overheating and causing the issue.

As it is a laptop you are playing on you should ensure that when in use you have your laptop resting on a hard and flat surface so as not to obstruct your laptop's airflow. It's also worth going ahead and cleaning the vents on your laptop.

  • I just underclocked my GPU and same kind of stutter happens even when my CPU and GPU are nowhere near their throttling limit. CPU just randomly starts to run at 0.78 GHz and I experience stutter for like 40-50 seconds then it is again fine for next 1-2 mins then same thing happens.

I have attached an older log where my GPU was running at full clock speed.

  • There is a setting in energy management to limit cpu processing state from 100 to like 80%..and maybe your gpu allows for a bit of underclocking using some kind of tool? i dont have positive experience with intel turboboost so i have it disabled (i'm on a desktop you probably cant disable it on a laptop)

I have tried that, I can also confirm that its not an overheating issue, as it also happens randomly when my GPU or CPU is nowhere near the throttling limit.
