Server connectivity issues

Why have the EU servers been unplayable for the past week(s)? How can every game I join feel like I'm playing in slow motion with 70+ ping? Is EA even aware of the issue? 

Is the budget too tight to have functioning servers? It's embarrassing. It's also close to impossible to contact the support and I'm starting to see why - just to let the customers frustratingly click around until they lose patience and give up. Who cares about the product quality, as long as it makes you money, right?
