Switch 2 friend disconnected from Ranked matches when playing crossplay with PS5
Hi,
I play Apex Legends on PS5, and my friend plays on Nintendo Switch 2. Recently, my Switch 2 friend gets disconnected from Ranked matches at a very high rate and is sent back to the lobby with a "Cannot connect to server" message.
Details of the issue:
- When we queue for Ranked together, my Switch 2 friend frequently gets kicked back to the lobby while I successfully enter the match.
- This results in me starting the match short-handed (2-player squad instead of 3).
- The Switch 2 player’s Ranked points do NOT decrease and they receive NO penalty when disconnected.
- This means the bug could potentially be exploited — the remaining players face no RP loss risk.
- The issue happens at a high rate in Ranked, but occasionally occurs in other modes as well, with no clear pattern.
- A workaround that sometimes helps: restarting the game, or entering the Firing Range and returning to the lobby before queuing again. However, this does not always work.
- The common factor is always crossplay between PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2.
We believe this is a crossplay-related bug specific to PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Has anyone else experienced this? Any solutions or official acknowledgment would be greatly appreciated.
