Wrong EA/Steam account linked

Here's what I sent to EA help a couple days ago (got an automated, worthless response):

Please delete the link to the steam account whoami7741. It was linked to another account before (eaglepiethurrr) but when I went to EA account, it wasn't linked. I accidentally linked to another account out of curiosity and now I lost 500+ levels and many money spent on the game. Please, just remove it, very simple and the problem is fixed. I haven't been able to play the game in 3 years because of this, no one from support helped me. Maybe this is the last time because I am tired of asking so many times... Please find someone who can fix this issue! There is no way there isn't a way to override this simple feature!

There are 2 EA and 2 Steam accounts. As to WHY I linked to the other steam account, I heard that data isall connected to EA account, so I figured (completely wrong and like an idiot) that I could make a new steam, link those accounts, and still have my data. Was wrong. In any case, the original Steam was linked to the wrong EA account.

I had 2k+ hours in this game, thousands of dollars into this account. It's been 2 years since I made this stupid mistake for no reason, which is more than enough time to bypass the 6 month limit, right? Countless talking to support people with bad english who got me nowhere and gave me no help, maybe not their fault. Tried again in the last week, ofc automated useless link to a useless article. I just want to know if it's possible for someone to delete the Steam link on this EA account, and let me link back to my old account(EA: this one, Steam: eaglepiethurrr). Thank you.

  • I know that, to a painful level... but the first link I ever made was with those 2 accounts. In fact I had to delete the link and then link the new EA account. How was I able to link those accounts even though it had already been linked to the older EA account? Why didn't it say I couldn't link that new EA account because it only links once?

mu_meyy Each EA Account can only be associated with one platform account of each type in its lifetime, (while it is a bit confusing, you are able to unlink a platform account from one EA Account to then link it to another EA Account).

For example, if you have the EA Account "player" and are now using the EA account "user", you can unlink your Steam Account from the "player" account and then link your Steam Account to the "user" account, (but it won't transfer your Apex progress and/or data over to the "user" account", as that is tied to the "player" account).

If you choose to link your Steam Account to another EA Account, just know that the second EA Account won't be able to be linked to a different Steam Account in the future either.

  • I appreciate the help, this is the farthest I've ever gotten in 2 years haha. Makes so much more sense why that happened then. That sucks.... a lot :/

"If you choose to link your Steam Account to another EA Account, just know that the second EA Account won't be able to be linked to a different Steam Account in the future either."

that's the weird part, that's exactly WHAT I did. I made a new Steam account and connected it to the first, older EA account and it worked. That still didn't have my data tho... Is my data just absolutely gone forever then? Just give up the hopium and make a new account from scratch?

  • Sorry, I always had trouble explaining (+English is my secoind language, so it's weird sometimes), let me try to make this more clear:

To put a symbol to: old EA (EA1) and old Steam (S1), which is where all the data is. EA2 was made because I made a new email account and I wanted that email to be associated with S1. I unlink S1 from EA1 and link S1 to EA2.

That messed everything up, and I learn EA accounts hold all data. So I make S2 using said new email and link it to EA1.

That STILL doesn't have my data, so I panic and unlink S2 from EA1 and attempt to link S1 to EA1 back again. Now when I try to link EA1 inside S1's apex legends, it says there was an account (S2) linked to EA1. On EA1's link page, it brings up the same page. I then delete S2's account entirely in an attempt to maybe wipe the link from memory at all? But I'm not sure that worked, maybe that completely bricked EA1.

I have NOT tried EA2/S2 (impossible now that it's deleted) or reattempted EA2/S1 yet. However, I would hope EA1 and S1 can be linked again.

2 questions: do I just give up on S1/EA1 and link S1/EA2 now? Is there LITERALLY no override that exists in EA's ENTIRE staff/servers?

I seriously have had and still have a hard time letting go of this account.  I had severe depression and Apex is one of the things that physically and mentally got me through corona and extreme solitude.  I had no one and nothing; that account has not only thousands of hours and dollar in it but also priceless time and memories with randos, and with myself. If there's no hope, just give it to me straight. I'll just start new again and hope one day in the future, I can use EA1 again. :(

Ah. I see. That's definitely what seemed liked happened. I wish there was a proper warning that told you your data would be lost/unlinking means you can't transfer data, seems easy for a multibillion corporation. I guess that's on me to do the proper research first. Thanks for the help at least, I think I can finally just swallow the pill this time haha
