BF6 Suggestion – Battle Pickups: Good Idea, Poor Implementation
In my opinion, the idea of Battle Pickups in Battlefield 6 was actually very good, but it was poorly introduced, which is why it’s a real shame they were removed so quickly. For this system to truly work, a few key things would need to change:
1. Unique Battle Pickups per map
One of the main issues was that the same Battle Pickups appeared on every map. Instead, each map should have its own unique Battle Pickups, designed around the map’s theme, environment, and gameplay. This would make maps more memorable and encourage exploration.
2. Iconic and fun weapons like in older Battlefield games
Battle Pickups should be attractive, powerful, and high-risk, but most importantly, fun and worth going for. Battlefield already proved this works with iconic examples:
-RAWR – BF4
-M32 MGL – BF4
-AMR-2 – BF4
-Nail Gun – BF Hardline
-Katana – BFV
-Flamethrower – BFV
-Rorsch MK-1 – BF4
-Phantom Bow – BF4
-Crossbow – BF3
These weapons were unique, memorable, and added a real challenge and gameplay variety.
3. Smart integration into map design
Concrete example: On a remastered map like Wake Island, you could hide a katana or a flamethrower somewhere on the map, accessible only if players take risks or know the map well. This rewards map knowledge, initiative, and objective-focused play.
4. Make Battle Pickups desirable with challenges and rewards
To truly make them attractive, Battle Pickups should be tied to specific challenges, such as:
-Unlocking exclusive camos
-Dog tags
-Profile customization items
-Unique badges linked to each Battle Pickup
Not just a “fun weapon,” but a long-term progression goal.
Conclusion: Battle Pickups have always been part of Battlefield’s DNA. With map-specific weapons, iconic designs, and meaningful rewards, they could become a strong and memorable gameplay feature in BF6 instead of a short-lived gimmick.
