Your idea is cool! a danger-sensing passive for the Assault fits their role well. My original plan for the passive was also to counter flanking, and your design adds to the battlefield vibe.
For the Support’s Sentinel robot dog, I see it as like a unique team buff to protect the team. In games, few pick mines or active defenses, though they’re common in real combat. Since placing mines or defenses isn’t fun, the automated Sentinel robot dog handles it, matching the Support’s role of aiding teammates from the back.
RECON
i think Mortars aren’t typical for RECONs, but it’s for game balance. Every class needs a heavy weapon, and RECONs have the most time to use mortars. They less fight upfront or handle repairs/rescues, so it suits them to stay back and use mortars. 😁
if giving mortars to Engineers would make them too versatile, juggling anti-personnel, anti-vehicle, and repair tasks. I want Engineers focused on anti-vehicle and repairs. Plus, carrying two heavy weapons would be too much for them.

If the tank has an emergency at this time, it may be too late to repair it. I want Engineers focused on anti-vehicle and repairs. Plus, carrying two heavy weapons would be too much for them.😄

Cool, still think that robot would fit engineer or recon better. If given to recon, they could add a feature to give simple commands to direct the robot to aid allies since recon would have a better sense of the field and provide fire support.
Mortars are tough to place but since recon is the one that marks enemies, i think it would be easier if another class carried and fired the mortar. I do see your point but that depends on the driver, can't tell you how many drivers would rush in as their vehicles were about to blow and I was trying to keep them alive telling them to fall back. Can't save those who don't want to be saved

lol, just for fun, it's only a few days away from release and they can't possibly change anything
