It it’s indeed a sad state of affairs, banning you from playing online for balance transfer does not make any sense, makes you wonder what is really going on in there but we will never know unfortunately.

As for compensation it might be worth contacting their legal team at HQ and send them formal letter of complaint via recorded delivery. You can see if it’s worth it to you have a look at section 15 of the EA user agreement.
