Gaibaa Hey, so when this happens, something is blocking it. Gotta find out what that is. There are a couple of ways to do this.
For the moment, can you attach a DxDiag?

Gaibaa This is the information pulled from your Windows Error Report.
EA App (EADesktop.exe) Crashes
- Faulting Module: ucrtbase.dll
- Event Type: BEX64 (Buffer overflow or DEP violation)
- Exception Code: c0000409
- What it means: The EA App may be hitting issues with system runtime files or DEP (Data Execution Prevention) conflicts.
MS Store Error
- Event: StoreAgentScanForUpdatesFailure0
- Error Code: 8024401f
- What it means: Windows is having trouble connecting for updates—this could be due to network settings or corrupted update components.
EA App Crashes
- Run the EA App as Administrator.
- Try disabling DEP for EADesktop.exe:
- System Properties → Performance Settings → Data Execution Prevention → Add Exception
- Fully uninstall and reinstall the EA App.
- Run a system scan using:
- bashsfc /scannow
- CopyEdit
MS Store Updates
- Use the Windows Update Troubleshooter (Settings → Troubleshoot → Additional Troubleshooters).
- Reset update components with the following commands in an elevated Command Prompt:
- bashnet stop wuauserv net stop cryptSvc net stop bits net stop msiserver ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old net start wuauserv net start cryptSvc net start bits net start msiserver
- CopyEdit
- Check proxy/firewall settings to ensure they aren't blocking Microsoft Store connections.

I ran the Windows Update troubleshooter and it fixed some error.
DEP won't work on the EA App because it's a 64 bit .exe and it doesn't work on 64 bit.
No clue how to do either of the bash things.
I ran the EA App as admin and now it's just stuck on launching the game.

Gaibaa Normally, when it does that, Windows Security, Defender, or Antivirus pops up in the background to allow it to run. If that isn't happening something is blocking this exe from launching.

I found a tutorial on how to completely disable DEP. I did so and it didn't change anything.
I went into my Windows Firewall settings and made sure that Steam, all the EA App exe's, and all the Mass Effect Legendary Edition exe's are allowed through the firewall.
How do I do the bash things you mentioned?

Gaibaa You pull up the Windows start menu, type CMD, and run as admin
Then you literally just type each one and hit enter
It will look something like thisnet stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start msiserver - Gaibaa3 months agoNew Novice
I did all that and now sometimes it will start but take a long time to actually do so. It doesn't work every time. When it does work I get a notification saying that the cloud save is out of date and asking if I want to use the cloud save or the local save. I'm uploading pictures of the notifications with this reply

Gaibaa So the save part will be up to you, honestly. That is due to the issue you have when the game creates a local save vs what the EA app automatically saves on the cloud. Your local saves will be or should be here: C:\Users\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect Legendary Edition
That is what causes that issue. So, where you left off is where you want to sync from. I assume the cloud as that was the older date with the game(s) you were playing. You can move the save folder from the above location to the desktop and try to sync it again, but it will most likely sync the cloud. Hopefully you don't lose progress you had but where you want to start from is kind of up to the player when that happens.
