ME:LE 3 won't launch

Hi! I've tried just about everything so as a last resort i'm gonna ask help from here. Two things of note: i'm playing on pc and my game is on an external hard drive. Been playing for a long time, and haven't had many issues before. About a week ago my ME:LE just deleted itself from Steam, saying it wasn't installed anymore. Installed it again and went to play as normal, but the game wouldn't launch. The launcher itself works fine, but when i try to load the last save, it lags and crashes at the loading screen, taking me back to the launcher. I'm currently playing ME3, and it seems like the problem is with that game specifically, because i tried starting new ME1 and 2 saves and there were no problems with either of them.

What i have tried so far:

  • deleted the game and installed it again (multiple times)
  • updates my graphics cards
  • moved it to my computers internal drive
  • tried launching it straight from the .exe file
  • verified the game files (multiple times)
  • cleared EA app's cache

Tried basically everything that came up when googling this problem. If there is anyone who could help with this i'd be very grateful.

If the game launched without the save files you can use the original saves minus one of the last saves you made.

The game will always crash if a single save is corrupted, so it is usually only one save that is affected, and it is always one of the most recent ones.
So, copy all the saves except the five most recent ones back to the original folder and test them.

If the game still runs, you can copy the last five saves back one by one until the game stops starting.

The last saved you copied over is corrupted and needs to be deleted.
The rest will work just fine.

I also suspected that a corrupted save could be the issue, but i'm not so sure anymore. Maybe i did something wrong, but the game still won't launch, even without the last five saves. I have about 30 saves at this point, and i tried launching the 25th one, but sadly it didn't launch. Also, not sure if it means anything, but the launcher claims im at Silversun strip, even though in the last save (the 25th one) i'm actually in the Normandy. Oh and EA's app decided to start screaming at me every time i try and open the game, that there are some issues with cloudsaves and network errors, so things just keep getting better and better.

You need to do this one step after another.

The cloud save feature message happens because there is a mismatch between what is on your PC and what is in the cloud.

    1. Make sure you have a Back up of your save files outside the "documents" folder.
    2. Make sure your PC is online.
    3. Choose "cloud" if you are asked what  location should be used.

Your saves should now be in the 'Documents/BioWare/Mass Effect Legendary Edition/Save/ME3' folder, as before. The game itself should not start, but the EA app should work normally again.

      Now
    1. Restart you PC.
    2. Pull the plug of the Network cable or disable you Wifi. (Whatever you use.)
    3. Go to your "C:\Users\<Your User Name>\Documents/BioWare/Mass Effect Legendary Edition/Save” folder.
    4. Move the "ME3" folder to your Desktop. (The folders must be gone from the original path!)
    5. Test if the games works IN offline mode and let us know.

So the cloudsave error still appears for some reason. The game did technically work, but once again i could not resume my last ME3 save, like i hoped i could. Only option was to start a new game, which i'm kind of starting to consider at this point.

Of course, you can do that too if you wish.

But you also can test the saves you have rather easily.

You need to do the following wile still being in offline mode! (If you were online wile starting the game in the meantime you need to delete the ME3 folder under "Documents/BioWare/Mass Effect Legendary Edition/Save/" again.)

    • Create a folder named "ME3" in the "Documents/BioWare/Mass Effect Legendary Edition/Save/" folder.
    • Copy the save files back in batches of five from the "ME3" folder on your desktop to the "ME3" folder in "Documents/BioWare/Mass Effect Legendary Edition/Save/".  (Preferably the oldest saves you have.)
    • Test the game > Copy another 5 save and so on until the game is not starting anymore.
    • Then the corrupt save is in the last batch and you just can test this last five saves one by one.

Sadly even with only the first five saves the game still won't launch. Maybe the problem isn't a corrupted save after all? At this point it's all good if there is nothing else left to try, i'm fine with starting this ME3 playthrough over.

If the game starts without the saves in the "ME3" folder, and doesn't start with them in it, then there is simply no other explanation than that one or several of this saves are the problem.

But if you want to start again, do that. It's a great game that you can play several times without getting bored of it.
