My top frustrations/complaints/suggestions for skate.

idk if any dev is actually going to bother reading all this, but if so then thanks and sorry for it being so much. I tried to order each list from most to least important for each category (in my opinion, of course)

(EDIT: Added categories and moved everything I listed later in the comments up to Dec. 11th into the OP instead)

(EDIT 2 Electric Boogaloo: I've crossed out a few of these that have been fixed/added/addressed/whatever. Thanks!)

I'm going to first start with my #1 complaint that I didn't know which category to put it under, so instead I'll just leave it under no category at the top:

The game is online-only and there's no way to play offline or preferably host a P2P/LAN server. I don't like spending money on online-only games knowing that inevitably one day they'll be shut down. Please plan for the future and make sure all the work you guys have put into this game will be preserved.

Visuals:

  1. Because the game uses Lumen lighting, a lot of the dynamic lighting is very splotchy and looks poor. Even more annoying is the ghosting around any moving object/character when Lumen lighting is behind said object/character. A great example of this is if you go to the stage in Hedgemont where all the TV screens are and run around against those screens, you'll immediately see major ghosting all around your character.

  2. It'd be a nice detail if the bottom of our skateboards got scratched up when used enough, like in other games such as Session. I think even a few of the THPS' had this. Also include an option to reset the board damage, or disable the feature entirely since I'm sure some people out there will complain otherwise.

  3. I'd like to see more of the lighter bail animations where you don't completely fall to the ground but instead stumble off your board and barely regain composure. There were a lot of really good ones in skate 3, while so far I think there's only two or maybe three in the new game?

Audio/Music Player:

  1. Disabling the "Vee's comments" audio setting doesn't affect her repetitive dialogue at the start/end of every challenge. Please Vee, I know what a "pig challenge" is already! The only current workaround is to turn VO volume all the way to zero, but then I can't hear my own character, nor Shingo, Slappy, and Lizzy, who I like the voices of.

  2. Please let us disable how the music player automatically starts playing a song every time you begin a challenge. I like the in-world music, I don't want to get blasted by a song for 45 seconds until the challenge ends and it cuts off. Currently I have to open up the music player and pause it every time I start a challenge, which sucks.

  3. I'd like a way to block/dislike songs so they stop playing in the open world and during challenges. Alternatively only play songs that I've favorited. There are certain songs I hate hearing so much, please!

  4. Could we get a "skip" button on the music player to skip forward to the next song?

Settings:

  1. There's no gameplay assist setting to disable/tone down the vert magnitization. I'll often be trying to grind a rail or just ollie over something but instead magnetize to some far away ramp and my whole character goes sideways.

  2. Please add DLAA. This would also help with the Lumen ghosting issue I mentioned under Visuals.

  3. Please add a graphic setting to disable the chromatic aberration effect.

  4. The "low camera" setting isn't quite accurate to the original skate's low camera view. I want it to be a bit lower and closer to the board. Please either replicate that camera view from the original, or just let me manually adjust the camera position and angle in settings?

UI:

  1. The map could really use some icon filters so we can hide/view specific mission types, or hide them all so we can just see fast travel locations and other players. I'd also like if fast travel icons were visible when zoomed out further.

  2. Please let me hide the "2/4 players in party" HUD element that's always on the right side of my screen. It's very unnecessary imo, why would I need to constantly see that? It's one of the only HUD elements I currently can't remove, and I want as little HUD as possible in skate.

  3. When a party member is in the pause menu or using the replay feature their little triangle icon above them should change to either a paused icon or camcorder to represent either of those, that way you know they're busy and don't try to start a challenge while they're in there (which annoyingly just starts it by yourself). Edit: Thanks for adding this!

  4. I can understand why the social menu was moved to its own tab with the S2 update, but it feels weird that its the only tab that uses RT/LT to navigate. I think the social menu being under the main home menu tab previously was perfectly fine, and easier to access.

Object Dropper:

  1. The object dropper only allowing a measly FIVE objects is so limiting, you can't do much with that. Please increase it quite a bit so we can create cool stuff!

  2. Please let us save the objects we've placed so they load back into the map the next time we launch the game. This would be so cool with a drastically increased limit as well. I'd love to build cool skate spots and shortcuts all over the whole map.

  3. Before Season 2 we could remove objects holding others up and it'd let them float. This was necessary for some builds because of the limit of only 5 objects. After the S2 update if you delete the object that's holding something up, the entire thing just disappears instantly with no way to revert. Please either let objects float once more, or, better yet, just increase the object dropper limit! Then I can afford to leave objects holding others up for "structural support."

Controls/Tricks:

  1. Bailing is so finicky in this game, it feels like the detection for it is a bit broken. I very often get thrown off a grind for seemingly no reason. Edit: This is much less of an issue now, pretty rare for me to just randomly bail off a grind when I shouldn't have.

  2. Bring back grind grabs (grabbing the board while in a grind).

  3. Similarly, bring back the ability to grab the board while powersliding!

  4. Currently 360 hardflips and inward flips are the only ones we can't hold. Are those planned to be added in the future?

  5. Does the setting to enable sideways ollies not currently work? My friend and I can't figure out how you're supposed to do them once you've enabled it. I expected them to work the same way directional pops do in Session. Edit: I've figured out how they work, it's just very subtle unless you're sitting still when you do one. https://youtu.be/tHfiU9-P8A8

Map/World:

  1. Add some interiors! The lack of any indoor locations (except the S2 tunnel) is disappointing. For example, I'd absolutely love if there was an indoor mall to skate around.

  2. I hope suburban areas are planned for a future map expansion. Those have always been my favorite areas in the series, the first game especially had a phenomenal suburban area with plenty of nice spots to find all around the neighborhoods and alleyways.

Missions:

  1. When doing a line challenge if you complete an attempt but only finish half of the goals it'll cross them out even though you need to do the whole thing in one attempt. After it crosses a goal out you can no longer tell your current progress on that goal in your next attempt.

  2. Already completed goals should still count toward daily/weekly/seasonal tasks so we can replay completed missions instead of having to rely entirely on the daily rotations that get old very fast.

  3. There are so many missions that should be getting reused for the daily challenge rotations to add more variety. Currently there's only two days' worth of daily challenges that switch in and out. Add all those other missions that were one-and-done to it, I'd love to have a reason to replay them and earn XP/Rip Chips/Tix!

  4. I'd like to see more missions that actually require using the Object Dropper. Currently there's very, very few (less than 5 maybe?) that do, and they're very basic like, "place one ramp in this exact spot and you're done." I want some open-ended missions that are almost like puzzles, "find the right pieces to make it across this gap," that kind of thing.

  5. I really like the new Own the Lot challenges, I love how many different objectives you've made for each area and that they're randomly chosen for replayability (not that there's a reason to replay them once you earn the Tix...), but the balance for solo or two players needs looked at. It is extremely difficult to reach the highest reward with two players, and practically impossible if you're solo. I don't think you should be forcing people to play in full parties just to be able to complete them. Please either have it dynamically adjust the amount of time given based on number of players, or just bump up the time gained when completing goals a bit?

Progression:

  1. The grind for Rip Chips and Tix is miserable ever since they were nerfed in Season 1. It's so slow! It took me just under 85 hours to reach level 10 across the current three districts, and I still need a ridiculous amount of Rip Chips to buy all the boxes. Please, fans are more likely to return to the game and buy the battle passes when they're easier to finish, not harder and grindier!

  2. I wish battle passes were permanent. Please look at games like Helldivers 2 for how much better a consumer-friendly permanent battle pass system can be. It leads to more sales in the long term than FOMO does!

Multiplayer/Social:

  1. Get rid of the mission countdown timer entirely as it currently functions in co-op. As the host I would much rather choose a mission, then it shows up for other party members and requires them to hold a button to accept/vote to start it. That way it only starts when everyone is ready, rather than the current 10 second timer before yanking everyone away from what they were doing.

  2. There's no text chat! This is so disappointing for an MMO-like game with a big focus on the social aspect. Text chat would let me meet up with randoms, skate some lines, chat with them, etc. without needing to form a party and use voice chat.

Emotes:

  1. It is baffling to me that emotes can't be heard by others. You just silently, awkwardly dance on everyone else's end. Please add it so everyone can hear each others' emotes, or at the very least other party members!

  2. Add a customizable emote wheel, rather than the current system of only having four emote slots that use LB + one of the four directions on the D-Pad. It's very limited and there's a TON of emotes I want to be able to use more often! Please gimme more than 4 emote slots!

  3. Quite a few emotes can't be done while you're on your board. I really love the ones that let you do that, can we get that for all of them?

  4. Currently when doing emotes it'll mute the music whether it be from your music player or the open world, I'd rather it not do that, at least the open world music, and play them both at the same time.

Cosmetics/Customization/Store:

  1. Clothes are way, way too baggy and massive, especially shirts. It makes my character look like they gained 100 pounds!

  2. I really hope you'll either revert the new Season 2 face complexions, or let us adjust them back to how they used to look. My character looks much worse now, the shading around the eyes and nose is so much darker than before!

  3. We should be able to freely place stickers on our board, including resizing them, rather than the current 3-sticker system that's very limited.

  4. Let us buy things from store bundles individually! The incentive to buying a bundle instead should be that the combined price is discounted while individual items aren't, just like how Fortnite or other successful live service games do it. I guarantee there's a lot of people out there who have zero interest in spending $20+ on a bundle but would drop a few bucks here and there for one or two items out of the bundles. Edit: This has sorta been added, now you can buy costumes separately from their bundles, and some bundle clothing, but there's still a lot of stuff from bundles that's unavailable to buy separately.

  5. This is really low on the scale of importance (hence me putting it near the bottom), but I'm not a fan of how every costume so far either looks like it was made of paper mache or cardboard. I was really hopeful that Isaac Clarke would return to this game, he was my favorite character to use in skate 3! I kept asking if he'd return on skate's social media leading up to release lol. I was very disappointed that what we instead got was an unappealing cardboard box costume version of him. I would gladly have given you guys some money if you had just ported over the skate 3 model (aka the OG Dead Space model).

  6. Could we get the original green "Yeah Right!" deck? I saw the new 20th anniversary version was in the store a few weeks back, but the OG is a classic.

  • Settings:

    • Please add an LOD distance graphic setting! Currently there is so much obvious pop-in. It's very distracting. I promise my PC can handle bumping it up to avoid stuff like this:

    Object Dropper:

    • Placeable fast travel points! Preferably ones that persist between sessions, and let other party members use them. There's a lot of new spots I love in Season 2 that I want to have faster access to, a great example is the updated skyscraper rooftop that now has a crane over it (toward the broken bridge). It has so many nice grind spots all over it. I love that place but it's a pain climbing all the way up there each time.

    Controls/Tricks:

    • I'd like to see coffin grinds added. Just a basic 50-50 version if you ride onto the edge of a curb. Currently you teleport up into a standing 50-50 which looks odd.

    • Please either let me rebind R3 (right stick click) to L3 (left stick click), or let me disable it. Sometimes I hold the right stick a little too hard while doing grabs apparently, and it registers as me holding R3 which leads to me bailing because it opened some nearby player's info pop-up.

    Map/World:

    • In the new Winter Roll-stice skateparks there's a few areas that get foggy, a light blue filter, and snow particles falling. Please spread this to the whole map during the event! It looks so much better and Winter-y. I'm not expecting you guys to cover the whole map with snow on the ground, I know that'd be a lot of work, but just copying these three effects citywide would look nice.
    • I like the new quietly-added sewer grate fast travel spots! It made me think how it'd be really fun if we had a few sewers we could skate around, like Session's TMNT collab sewer map.

    • I'm also loving the hidden presents you've tucked away all over the map! I hope we'll get more hidden collectibles later, it gives me a good reason to really explore the map other than to find new skate spots. Also some indication of how many there are to find would be nice. Are there only 8 inflatables to find at the moment?

    Multiplayer/Social:

    • When interacting with another player's objects, please add an option to either disable all of their objects (including future ones), or a block button. I had a bad experience yesterday where I was skating around and this guy kept placing things in my way to make me bail, but because I was dealing with the invisible players bug I couldn't actually see him to figure out who to block.

    Emotes:

    • I'm going to write up a bug report for this, but in case it's intentional: I would really like if movement was enabled/allowed while doing the new Mall Grab emote from S2's pass. I don't see any reason why it should lock you into place. I was pretty excited to get that emote since that's how I used to hold my board while walking around when I was younger.
  • Object Dropper:

    • Please let us rotate objects on every axis! It is infuriating trying to fight the object to rotate it a specific angle (like upside down or sideways) when it's constantly trying to rotate itself back to default position.

    Cosmetics/Customization/Store:

    • When changing clothes we should be able to zoom in/out the camera, especially when viewing pants and shoes so we can check if it meshes well with the rest of the outfit.

    • Let us save outfit presets so we can switch between groups of clothing we like quickly without having to manually go through and re-equip each piece.

    • It'd be useful if we had a "Hide Stickers" button when previewing decks, the same way we have a "Hide Outfit" button when previewing all clothing. Here's a quick mockup I made of where the button would go:
  • Audio/Music Player:

    1. There should be an indication of if a song hasn't been grabbed yet. Right now you just have to grab it and hope it was one you didn't have yet, but you won't even know because it also moves that song's playlist to the front, even if you already had grabbed it previously.

    2. I also think all songs should need to be found and grabbed, not just ones from Universal Production Music. It'd be nice to have more songs to search for and unlock.

    3. Why are you removing Universal songs? From my understanding there's no time-limited licensing for Universal Production Music, you pay once and can use them forever. However Season 2 removed a few Universal playlists like 80's Glam, which makes zero sense since Season 2 is 80's-themed... More music is a good thing.

    4. Let us save tracks to our own custom playlists, rather than everything just getting thrown under My Favorites.

    Map/World:

    1. Why are there geese in the dumpsters? Let them out.

    Missions:

    1. I've said it before and I will say it again, I want to like Own the Lot, I really like the idea of the mission type, but what you've implemented is instead one of the most infuriating, frustrating, miserable experiences in the game right now. It genuinely pisses me off playing those missions, but I have to if I want to be able to finish the first and second skate.Passes.
Please, for the love of God, add more time to them so they aren't so stressful. The game isn't supposed to be stressful! It's supposed to be a "chill and have fun" game! It shouldn't only be balanced for people who have a full party. At most I can only play with one other person, and even with them we almost never have reached the final goal/reward. The timer needs to scale depending on player count.

    2. I've mentioned before how missions really need to have some leniancy with getting off your board for when you get stuck on an object or awkward spot, but this would also be useful for another issue that I've realized since posting that: when you want to use Object Dropper to place a ramp somewhere in a mission that would be useful. Instead you get warped back to the start because you dared to get off your board and angered Vee.

    3. User-made challenges would be cool, let me create missions for others to play! Could let us use Object Dropper to place bearings to collect, ramps and stuff, set how much score/what tricks are required, etc.
This would add an insane amount of replayability. There are so many cool skate spots in the game that aren't used at all for official missions, and this would also solve that issue. Hopefully also have the reward be Tix so people who have all districts leveled (like myself) still have a reason to play them, unlike daily challenges. You could limit it so only a certain amount of Tix can be earned from user-made challenges per week?

    Progression:

    1. Let me open multiple boxes at once. It is so painfully slow trying to open a few dozen of the DIY/Builder Boxes.

    Multiplayer/Social:

    1. We should have an option to keep seeing other players while we're in a misson. Other players continue to see me while I'm doing a mission, why can't I have the option to keep them visible too? It feels weird and isolated that everyone around me disappears when I start a mission up.
I also wonder if this "mechanic" as it currently works is part of why that invisible players/party members bug keeps persisting? That's the only time the game ever uses that functionality of making other players invisible, so maybe they're related?
  • Well, Season 3 is here so it's time I added to my ever-growing list of feedback..

Once again begging you guys to add an offline mode or some way to host our own server (P2P through Steam networking would be great) so the game can be future-proofed. The thought is always sitting in the back of my head that one day this game could get shut down and I'd never be able to play it again.

    Visuals:

    1. I like the new effects and filter stuff we can do with replays, but I'd like if we could also apply these during regular gameplay. Being able to change the saturation, exposure, add a vignette and barrel distortion, we should have some way of applying those to when we're not in the replay editor!

    2. Why were so many eyes changed with S3? A lot of ones that had eyeliner before no longer do, and the ones I use on my character used to look really nice before, but now there's no shading around the eyes and it makes the eyes/eyeliner really stand out in a bad way now. A lot of shading on my character's face is gone, actually, like around the nose.
Comparison of my character's face from S2 to S3, note the lack of shading around the eyes in S3.

    Audio/Music Player:

    1. I am.. so incredibly disappointed that you guys removed so many songs with S3. Almost every fan-favorite song too. I think just about every S1 song is now gone. Why? Why would you remove 5 O'Clock by Deb Never, Supersad by Suki Waterhouse, High On My Lows by Sawyer Hill, goo lagoon by EKKSTACY, Come Find Me by Caribou, but then kept awful ones that no one seems to like, like the incredibly obnoxious Shinin' by BIG NO!SE and Breathe by Connie Diiamond. So disappointing.

    2. If you're going to keep removing tons of songs with each update, how about letting us put our own personal music files somewhere in the game's install folder so they can then play in-game through the speakers/radios found around the map? Similar to the GTA series' custom radio station feature on PC. Or let us connect Spotify or something similar to the game, and then listen to its music through the in-world speakers/radios. I really like how it sounds to listen to the music coming out of the world around my character.

    Settings:

    1. I like the new "Party Collision" setting! But.. this really needs to be split up into two settings. I want to have party collision while in free roam, but have it disabled in missions. It's hilarious in free roam, but incredibly frustrating during missions.

    UI:

    1. Why was the radial menu changed from being able to just tap Down once on the D-Pad, to now needing to be held down for a second or two? Please revert this or bring it back as a setting. I'm also not a fan of the radial menu now using the right stick instead of the left stick to navigate, but at least I can change that back by switching the control style setting. But please let me just tap Down on the D-Pad again instead of needing to hold it.

    Object Dropper:

    1. I'm a bit disappointed to see that Object Dropper items are now purchasable in the store. I think these should always be earnable in-game since they directly affect gameplay, unlike cosmetics. I could give a pass if it was only some goofier stuff that's just a reskin of an existing earnable object, like the trampoline in the store behaving identically to the bouncy, but the rest should be earnable.

    Controls/Tricks:

    1. I've been screwing around with Quick Ollies a lot lately since I like the look of them, a bit more realistic-looking in clips, but I noticed an issue that maybe is a bug I should report, not sure, but if you quick ollie off of a grind it jumps quite high up in the air, same height as a regular full ollie. This only happens while grinding.

    Map/World:

    1. I don't really mind if Grom is available early to Premium Pass owners for a month as long as everyone can access it for free afterward, but I think requiring 500 Rip Chips a day to access it will be a bit odd, and it makes the game look worse for people who don't know how you can easily get 600-800 Rip Chips every day from daily tasks. You aren't earning money off Rip Chips, so why do that anyway? You'd gain some free good publicity by changing it to just make Grom always free and accessible to everyone after the early access period ends.

    Missions:

    1. Own The Lot still sucks for solo/2-player groups. Still extremely difficult with too little time for solo/2-players, and the new one in Brickswich is straight up miserable. All of the tasks are spread out too much in that big area with how little time you have, and some of the tasks seem broken like doing a double flip trick over the plaque, which is already very difficult to do but then even if you pull it off it doesn't complete. OTL could be such a good mode if it was more relaxed. I'd even like to see some sort of infinite version where there's no timer and you just keep doing tasks until you decide to stop.

    Multiplayer/Social:

    1. If the party leader owns the Premium Pass they should be able to bring their friends to the Isle of Grom. This is how many other co-op games handle DLC, if the host owns it then everyone playing with them can experience it. This would also lead to people finding out if they like Grom and possibly buying the Premium Pass to skate around there more when playing on their own.

    2. Is it intentional that we can no longer teleport to players from the Social menu and have to use the map screen instead?

    Emotes:

    1. It is still completely baffling to me that no one else can hear your emote sound effects or music. Great, I can now emote during celebration screens with the rest of my party, except we're all just silently dancing or whatever emote we're doing. It's awkward-looking.

    2. There are still so many emotes we can't do while on our board, including the previously mentioned Running Man and Moonwalk emotes, and now the new skate.Pass' "Soul Train" and "Weekend Evening Virus" emotes (C'mon, your feet don't even move with that last one, surely it can be done? Nice name for it btw).

    Cosmetics/Store:

    1. It's inexcusable that right now there's no confirmation when buying things in the store. Last night I was screwed out of 2,000 SVB because I wanted to view what the "Promo Pack" included with the more expensive version of the Premium Pass. Instead that instantly purchased it with no confirmation or warning. The UI was confusing and it made it look like holding A on it would open up a new menu to show me more info on that "Promo Pack" which turned out to not actually include anything extra other than the Tix.

    2. It is equally inexcusable to me (and grossly predatory) that the "Promo Pack" included with the 2,000 SVB Premium Pass doesn't actually include anything special. It's just 4,000 Tix at the cost of an extra 1,000 SVB compared to buying the regular skate.Pass... Except you can already buy 4,000 Tix for exactly 1,000 SVB on its own. You get absolutely nothing extra for buying this version of the Pass and that's very scummy and misleading in my opinion.

    3. Being able to refund/cancel a purchase would fix both of these issues. Take note from games like Fortnite where you can buy something and then cancel it if you haven't gone into a match yet. Instead here just let us refund/cancel as long as we haven't left the store screen or equipped the items. So many live service games want to copy Fortnite but not any of the QOL improvements that they have over there, yet that's why that game makes so much money.. because it's so consumer-friendly.

    4. Why are there some cosmetics still missing in the new catalog store? I was hoping the Dead Space bundle items would be there so I could buy the deck artwork. I really don't like how the Isaac cardboard outfit looks (still want an actual Isaac Clarke model like we had in skate 3) so I don't want to buy that whole bundle, but I'd like the deck. Seems odd to me that this bundle hasn't even returned since it was first in the store, too.

  • Just a few small additions to my S3 feedback from last week:

    Object Dropper:

    1. I somehow only just discovered the alternate camera mode when using Object Dropper and I really like it! It's about as close as I can get to how skate 2 was, where you physically pushed/pulled objects around. I'd really like to see that return, it was very immersive and looked nice! Plus it'd be useful for making small adjustments to things you've placed, or other physics objects in the world (assuming things like dumpsters/boxes ever become physics objects instead of static).

    2. While in this alternate camera mode in Object Dropper, it's currently not possible to raise/lower objects or change the distance of the object to the camera. There are a lot of buttons not being used while in this mode, I don't see why raise/lower can't still be on RT/LT, and changing how close/far an object is could be on Up/Down on the D-Pad.

    Replay Editor:

    1. I've mentioned that it'd be nice if we could actually play while using the new Advanced tab's effects like color temp, but I'd also like to see the ability to SAVE what values we've set these effects to in Replay. Like currently if I set everything up the way I like it, the next time I boot up the game it won't remember those values and everything will be set back to default.
  • Small bit of positive feedback from today's update:

Thank you for adding an icon on all emotes that work on your board or allow you to move on-foot while using them! Great QOL addition, and now we can finally move while using the moonwalk and running man emotes! Very, very glad to see that, had fun goofing off with my friend while using them today. I hope next update will let me walk around with the mall grab emote too! 😊

Oh and Grom looks gorgeous at night! I'm glad you guys actually made it realistically dark too.

I hope after this Nike event ends you'll keep it available somehow, maybe as an option when traveling there, or randomly set per server, or better yet an actual day/night cycle?

  • I agree with basically everything you listed here, and would add that the icons on the map not disappear when you zoom out. It's so annoying having to ease back into viewable level when you're just trying to get across the map but can't do it quickly unless you zoom out.

I said "basically" because there were a couple things I felt weren't necessary or would end up bugging me if I saw them like being able to do all the emotes on your board. The Running Man, Moonwalk and Flare would imo look ridiculous on a board, but that's just me.

As far as whether or not they read this stuff, I can say they do; and not just because one of them replied to your post. I've seen fixes and changes to the things I posted a while back in Season 1.

  • Hello again, time for my Season 4 initial impressions and update for this thread! This'll be a little different from my previous posts. Rather than just a bulletpoint list of things I decided to write down my thoughts in some regular paragraphs. Unfortunately I guess that means more reading for you lol.

    General Improvements:

I'm really enjoying almost all of the additions and tweaks for Season 4, especially how much better turning feels, and the loose camera option that brings back a little bit of that camcorder feel from the original game (now if only I could adjust the camera position to be lower/closer like the OG camera..). It also feels like ragdolls are now slightly weightier, maybe? I've had some more realistic-looking bails than I think I've had in the past, at least.

Fingerflips look and feel perfect so far. No complaints really, though it'd be useful if we had an option to toggle staying in Coffin so it's easier to do Coffin fingerflips. Currently you really need to claw grip your controller to do them lol.

I'm very, very glad that the warm color grading/color filter was toned down this season! It's still a bit too orange imo, I'd prefer a neutral color temperature, but this is a major improvement over the previous overly warm one that we had from Season 1 thru 3.

Though I'd still really like if we could use the Replay Editor's effects options during regular gameplay so I can tweak it to how I want it, and/or if Reshade was unblocked by the game's anti-cheat (seriously, why is that a thing?).

Season 1-3 vs. Season 4 color filter comparison. Much better!

    New Locations:

Stadium is kinda disappointing, not gonna lie. I really like the grind rails out front, and the small vert ramp hidden off to the side. But the Stadium itself, the interior, is probably the thing I've least enjoyed so far this season. It's very small and doesn't feel like it deserves to be its own load zone, it would've been much cooler if we'd been able to seamlessly walk in and out of the stadium. I don't think I'll spend much time in there as it currently is. Takes a while to load into it, there's way too many people crammed into that small space, and I just don't feel like there's enough to do in there atm. I know you're limited by how big the actual stadium is on the outside (unless you want to get silly and make it bigger on the inside than it is on the outside), but I think trimming down the stadium seats would give you a good bit more space to work with.

On the other hand, I really like the new community parks so far. Especially the one in Market Mile on the first day of the season (the one with all the stairs and handrails), and today's park in Gullcrest with a lot of rails all around the outer perimeter. The only ones I've not really been crazy about are Hedgemont's parks so far, and the day 1 Gullcrest park (outer perimeter was completely empty, inside the warehouse had some decent spots but was very small).

I'm really not a fan of the new location and size of Hedgemont's community park. First off it should be Brickswich's park, it's partially inside Brickswich's border! We could use a community park somewhere around northern Hedgemont anyway. Secondly it's just way too small. It's like a quarter of the size of the old Hedgemont! There isn't enough room to put anything interesting in this park so far, they've felt very tiny and it's too easy to fall into the ocean.

It also begs the question of what happens to the previous Hedgemont holiday event parks when those holidays return? I hope this isn't going to be a permanent location. Maybe you guys plan to give each district multiple community park locations instead of just one?

I'll also say that I mostly like that the community parks are rotating out daily now, so if we get a bad park it isn't a big deal. Though that daily timer does kinda suck when we get a good park lol.

I appreciate that you guys are starting to do more realistic park designs, including areas based on irl skate spots. The only thing I'd like to see changed here is the texture work. While the wood is certainly better than what we had previously, you guys gotta mix in some concrete and stuff so it doesn't all look so same-y. For example the Market Mile park I really liked yesterday would've looked so much better if the floors and stairs were concrete.

Oh and one last location-related note: I'm a bit sad to see night is no more at Grom. I hope you'll have it rotate in and out occasionally until the actual day/night cycle gets added in the future. Maybe each week it could rotate between day and night? Or every few days?

    Season Pass/Cosmetics:

The season pass is another thing I'm kinda "meh" on. There's a few things I like (though less than previous seasons), and it's cool that there's more SVB to earn in it, but a lot of the pages just have a bunch of sticker and profile customization filler.  It's also a little disappointing that there's no theme this season, and no final big reward? I guess the prison jumpsuit is this season's finale costume, except it's on page 6? Pretty odd. The football-related gear like the skate deck also feel out of place to me. I guess because stadium = football? Can't see myself ever using those items though.

I will say I like that the Tix grind has been very noticeably reduced these last two seasons, which is cool.

Dem Bones is a little expensive, but I like the costume, the bone rattling sound effects while pushing or bailing, and that you can wear hats/eyewear while using it. I'd like if you could just wear all clothing, especially shirts and shoes would look funny on him, but this is a good improvement nonetheless.

    Music:

I'm mostly liking the new music additions, though as usual I'll complain that I really, really wish you guys wouldn't remove music each time you add some. I want to see the music list GROW, not constantly get replaced or reduced (we're actually at 89 songs this season, while last season we had 99). It's especially bizarre to me to keep seeing UMG songs removed, when my understanding is that those songs have no recurring licensing fees. You pay for them once and you're done, you can use them forever. So why remove them?

One final request/suggestion I thought of recently:

I'd like if there was a button we could hold while landing that would prevent grinding/disable the grind magnetization (and maybe vert magnetization too). A good example of why this would be useful is for being able to manual in tight spots like here in Grom:

I had to completely disable grind assist just to be able to manual that spot, and it was still extremely difficult. There are a lot of spots like this all across the game that I'd love to do little manuals on, but the game insists I grind the edges instead.

Some sort of global "de-magnet" button would be great. Maybe LB since that's only used for emoting, and you're unlikely to be trying to emote while mid-air on your board?

That's all the feedback I've got for now, thanks if you actually read this far!

  • For Object Dropper #2, the system they embedded in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom would be perfect. With builds you could save up and then placed again easily.
