If you're encountering this on PC, can you try creating a throwaway Origin account and see if this one can play.
If not, be sure that your security software isn't blocking the game, and that the relevant ports are open.Platform UDP TCP PC 3659, 9565, 9570, 9000-9999 3569, 9946, 9988, 10000 - 29999, 42100-42200 PlayStation 3 3074, 3478-3479, 3658-3659, 5223, 6000 80, 443, 3659, 5223, 10000 - 29999, 42100-42200 PlayStation 4 3074, 3478-3479, 3659, 6000 80, 443, 1935, 3478-3480, 3659, 10000 - 29999, 42100-42200 Xbox 360 53, 88, 3074, 3659 53, 80, 3074, 3659 Xbox One 53, 88, 500, 3074, 3544, 3659, 4500 53, 80, 3074, 3659, 42100-42200 - Anonymous10 years ago
My son is having this issue on Xbox One. I can play online just fine but as soon as we go to his account, it gives us the error message that he cannot access online features. This does not appear to be an issue with the settings. I checked his Xbox account settings and he can play any other game online just fine. Very frustrating.
Any suggestions on how to fix?
- Anonymous10 years agoMy son has the same issue. My account works fine, his does not...xbox one.
I am having the same issue with my son... I can log in fine under my name and play... but when he goes to log in under his name, no online content allowed... I have all his settings so he is not restricted at all. He can play any other game online. EA doesn't seem to be any help. It did this in beta as well.... I was hoping when the new game came out, it would be fixed.... I hope they fix this soon.... I even created his own ea account, but don't know how to link it to his gamer tag... till then, he is playing under my name... but he wants to play under his own name....
Please look into this, and if anyone knows how to fix it, please post....

Same thing exactly. Fix this EA

Same issue here.. I just spent hour on phone with xbox, and its clearly and EA problem. In my case it appears they are reading my age incorrectly and flagging me as too young. No one seems to know how to fix this issue. Anything EA related I can't play online now.

Exact same issue on Xbox One.
When I started the game for myself and my son, it made me create an EA account for both of us. Why? Did not have to do so for Titanfall.
When I created his account, it was already flagged as a child account and made me verify his account via email. Now, how do I check his EA account online? EA login requires an email address as the username, but, his account was created with an EA ID with my email address used to verify. When I type in my email and his password, I can't log in. If I log into my account, I do not see his account as a connected account. SO........how do I check to see if the issue is on EA's end? Is there an EA account setting to give permission for an underage child to play online? He can play Titanfall online without issues.
Xbox Live settings are correct and he is permitted to play online. Did EA think that only adults would want to play online and that the kids would stand there watching?
What is the fix other than EA telling us to "Make sure you're playing on an account registered to a user of-age and try again."?
Okay, finally fixed it. If no one has a problem with changing the birthday of there children to make them older, but that is what has to be done or wait and see if EA fixes this. The problem lies in when you created your childs Microsoft account, you put in their birthday and that is what is being used as a check to see if they have access to the content or not. It doesn't matter what xbox parental settings you have. If your Microsoft account has your childs birthday as this day, then that is the check. You can edit it by signing into your Microsoft account, then under security and privacy, you will see manage permissions for children. Under this, you can edit there profile including birthday.
Now I do not recommend doing this unless you really don't care, because it basically will make them an adult in the online world. But I checked it and it does work. The only other thing I had to do was sign onto his ea account (origin client) and make sure it was linked to his xbox one live profile. Once that was done, I can log into the game under his name and play multiplayer and everything else... I know it sounds confusing, but it works.... as long as the emails are the same between ea (origin) and the one you use for his Microsoft account....

how old did you have to say that your child is? 18? I hope not. Why can't EA just use the Xbox user account setting for "my child can play online games"!!! Come on EA, you really need to play nice with the OS you are deploying your games on!

we are having exactly the same problem. all other EA games no issue, and I can log in but he cannot. this is very frustrating for a $70 game we essentially can't play.
i have this problem as well
ive opened and port forwarded all of the ports mentioned for pc and it still didnt work...Getting the same problem here on XBOX one. I can access all the online features, but my 3 kids cannot get online at all....
My nephew had the same problem today on PS4.He doesn't have an EA account yet.
We were checking the menus of the game & the unlocks. We were checking the emotes & oops! Lost connection with PSN & EA.
Then a message appeared:"you don't have access-screenshot recorded & thank you for playing SWBF" !!!
WTH? Is it necessary to make an EA account to play the game? I have one for me & i don't have any issues at all so far.
My nephew is not interested to join the forum or the companion app.He just wants to play the game online.

I got it to work for my son by logging into my Microsoft account and changing his date of birth.

Hi! It's at least comforting to see i'm not the only one with this issue. I excitedly picked up this game for my kids and I last night and, like the others here, my kids cannot join the EA servers for multiplayer. While my account connects without any issue, they receive the error "You are not allowed to access online features". Their xbox permissions are all open to play online and they do not have any content blocked. I've never had an issue until this game. A huge bummer when we all looked forward to a Saturday night of playing Star Wars together and here's Dad still hunched over a computer Sunday afternoon looking for a fix. NOTHING I have tried has worked...
This didn't work for me....
1. Log in to your Origin account https://www.origin.com/
2. Down Load the Origin App from the top header that says 'Down Load Origin'
3. Accept terms and conditions when launching the App.
4. Fill in your log-in details (same as Origin Account
5 In the App. Click Friends -> Add a friend in the menu bar
6.You will see the option to connect to XBOX Live or Playstation Network. We Choose XBOX
7. It will prompt you to log into your Microsoft account (the email address and password you use to log into your xbox)
(Doesn't matter if is says you failed to find a friend it will still work )
Go back to XBOX1 try to launch the game and go to Multi Player. It should work fine.
THIS DIDN'T WORK BECAUSE when i sign into origins with my kids' EA accounts, the only thing in the menu bar above is "MY GAMES", no "friends" nothing.
I've also looked into trying the suggestion of changing your kids' age in their xbox live account. I have not been able to find those options. IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW TO DO THIS, PLEASE SHOW ME.
Sorry, for the lengthy message but my frustration level is pretty high and I'm trying to document what all my issues have been. I hope EA can get this sorted out soon.
ANY help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I am experiencing the same problem. Why is this the only game that will not let my kid's account play online. I have purchased 2 copies of this game. We have 2 separate and active xbox live accounts. I did not ask EA to restrict any access! I need this fixed. We can play online mutiplayer with every other game we own. EA, this is a huge hassle!
- Anonymous10 years ago
has anyone found a solution for this yet?
- Anonymous10 years ago
This worked for me as well. EA, you need to get with the program. Don't try to control what my child can and can't play based solely on his age. That's why xbox has parental controls already built in to the family system. If I didn't want my son playing online, I would set his XBOX ONE ACCOUNT to not let him. But now he is over 18 on two different accounts across three platforms just he can play Battlefield with me. You need to fix this IMMEDIATELY! DO NOT override decisions I have already made!

This is EXACTLY the problem I've been having.
Unfortunately I think this forum is just for gamers to help other gamers. I haven't seen anyone from EA post on here and am not sure if they even read these forums but they really need to see this so I hope they do.
I tried posting on the actual support forum but it keeps saying I don't have permission to post there (the forums seem messed up) so have had to post here.
I hope they sort this soon. I've wasted many hours on this problem and my son still can't play.
- Anonymous10 years agoI have this very same issue in my PS4. My son can't access online content either! He can play all other games online just not start wars
