Sims 3 on EA App won't launch.

First of all I'd like to start by saying how bad the EA Operators are on the live chat. They told me to restart the PC two times after reinstalling Direct X9 and clearing the cache on the EA App and then they closed the conversations without giving me an active solution.

So, I have this issue with The Sims 3 that I bought this morning for the EA App.

The game appears in my library. When I click on launch... Well, a pop up from EA App appears and says "loading" then.. nothing. Nothing happens.

I am tired of this, I don't know what else to do. I tried launghing the game directly from the Bin folder with "Run as Administrator' and again... nothing.

I see that I don't have the TS3W.exe file in the bin.. only the TS3.exe file.. could that be a reason? What can I do about it? The EA App literally installed a non working game on my PC for which I had to pay. What can I do? :/

I also attached my DxDiag report

  • If your Sims 3 won’t launch from the EA App — or it says “Launching” then closes — follow these steps:

    Check your antivirus:
Add The Sims 3 folder to your exclusions list.

    Repair the game:
In the EA App, right-click The Sims 3 → Repair → wait until it finishes.

    Launch directly:
    Run the game from
    C:\Program Files (x86)\EA Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\TS3.exe
    (Right-click → Run as Administrator.)

    Install DirectX 9:
Download and install the DirectX 9 End-User Runtime (June 2010) from Microsoft, then restart your PC.

    Add DEP exception:
Control Panel → System → Advanced System Settings → Performance → Settings → Data Execution Prevention →
“Turn on DEP for all programs except those I select” → Add TS3.exe, This helps prevent crashes.

    Optional:
If you still have issues, reinstall the game to a simple path such as C:\Games\The Sims 3\
    to avoid Windows permission conflicts.

    Notes:
    • EA App no longer uses TS3W.exe — the game now launches through TS3.exe.
    • TS3.exe already includes Large Address Aware (LAA) support.

    Hello there!

    Thank you for your answer!

Yes, it is pretty unfortunate that after buying the game now I should buy it again but as a physical copy of the game...

I think EA should be more concerned about solving these issues, as it is really bad for such a big company to not be able to solve a problem with a game that's basically their own... As us, many other people bought the game from or for their EA App  and have our same issue. It's such a shame :(

Anyway, thank you for stopping by!!

That's weird, but not surprising considering this is EA. If you're missing the TS3W.exe file, and so is the other person who first replied to you, then it's likely that that is the source of the problem. And if that's the case, your only other option (besides trying to miraculously get a refund out of EA) would be to purchase a physical copy of the game. Considering you simply stated "The Sims 3" with no specification of an expansion pack/stuff pack or DLC content, I'm going to assume you purchased the base game. You can probably find its disc for only a few dollars. Also, it may just be the base game doing this. I bought two of the expansion packs within the past year, and they work perfectly fine. (As do a couple of the others bought before them. The rest I have physical copies for, so I can't attest to those). A warning, though: If you fix your situation, I strongly suggest NOT buying the DLC worlds through the EA App. They are glitched and do not work, because the key provided to you for installation via email will come up as "expired" or "already registered" even though it's supposed to be a new copy.

I'm sorry I can't give you a concrete solution to your problem, but I hope you find a way to get it taken care of.  Best of luck!

    Hello There!

    Thank you for your answer!

Yes, it seems we have the same exact issue here.

I also contacted EA support Team.. And it was a horrible experience... They told me they cannot help me. I read from other people on internet that EA was able to deliver to them somehow the TS3W.exe file ... How? I really don't know.

That is why I also contacted them, to get this file. But they said they cannot help me and they cannot provide me anything. And after insisting, they... Just closed my chat leaving me without any resolution.

I am so disappointed honestly... I don't think we'll solve this issue if EA does nothing, unfortunately :(

  • I have the same issue. I had it re-installed and since then it does the same. Before I could play the game perfectly. After searching on the internet I found out that with this new installation I'm missing the TS3W.exe file. The game does have the TS3.exe file which is not compatible with the latest version I believe. Therefor the game cannot launch.

I tried everything, installing it all the time but nothing seems to happen. I see the EA App loading screen but then nothing....

I've contected EA Games and hope for a solution. I like TS3 way more than TS4. So i wish this game would get its fair share of nurturing from the company as TS4. But maybe TS3 is more difficult to manage, i dont know what happens behind the scenes.
