the “serious error has occurred” won’t stop despite everything

I uninstalled OneDrive. I repaired the game files. I changed my file path so it’s not in Documents. I made exceptions with my Windows Defender and Firewall. I downloaded DirectX and Windows C+++ Redistributable. I changed the file name to Sims 3 Old (this actually made my pc stop recognizing the file path and I couldn’t even open the app/launcher from the bin). I uninstalled and reinstalled so many times. I updated my graphics drivers. I lowered down all my graphics settings. Nothing the internet has suggested has helped so far. Any suggestions?

  • JugdishForever  Your dxdiag crashed multiple times while running, so it's missing most of the usual information.  But it's possible none of that is relevant.

When you uninstalled OneDrive, did you only uninstall it, or did you first move the location of the Documents directory out of the OneDrive folder?  (Your computer will have several Documents folders, but only one is the directory, and that's the one Sims 3 tries to use.)  If you're not sure, you can find the current location by opening Command Prompt (search for it in Windows) and entering this command:

reg query "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" /v "Personal"

Please post the result.  You can write [username] instead of your actual username if you want, but leave the rest intact.
