As lovely as it would be if they would do refreshes on a lot of the older packs, it seems pretty likely the refresh on Spa Day was an experiment to get people more interested in buying it. I don't think the results paid off as much as they had hoped and dropped the idea of refreshing older packs.
Seeing how people have been concerned with B&H might be as GtW 2.0, I rather wonder if they intend to "fix" certain things players feel are missing or lacking in older packs by bringing them out in newer ones. "Couldn't get this in that one? Well, you can get it in this new one." Doing that means higher chances of doing the work and getting their money's worth. Sure, they could have refreshed GtW to have the small business system to go with the retail aspect of getting to work, but by releasing a whole new expansion pack that will rake in the money plus add in a few of the hobbies Simmers have been asking for? Kaching.
Another recent event is how they handled "refreshing" ghosts, with L&D. Free refresh? Nah, we will make a whole expansion pack to fill the void as well as put in new careers, lots types and the like. (This was implemented rather well, though.)
Any refreshes on aliens will likely be done like how ghosts were: via a new pack. I'm guessing it would be a Sci-Fi themed thing. Any refreshing of mermaids would likely be an actual mermaid pack rather than IL refreshing them.
Seasons, I have no idea. It never had a new world and has had only a few complaints like the calendar (that is BG now, though) and wanting more holidays added. Those things could simply be tweaked. If others feel in needs more than that... I have no idea.
Again, with activities and effects, the kids jumping in bed, snow man competitions, summer and water sport activities... they'd probably keep a memo on those ideas and implement them in a new pack down on the road. Incentives, you know.
Dine Out's problems have existed for so long... It is less a refresh and just needing to be fixed... like a lot of the packs, only more so.
It would be nice if all vacation worlds could be visited without the requirement of renting. 'Cause some of the Simmers are more interested in building, collecting over the "vacation get away" gameplay aspect of it. That would be less of a refresh and more of a tweak, though, I believe.
I'm pretty sure Get Together has updated the club system to work with new activities from other packs... so I have no idea what needs to be done to make it better... other than more symbol/icons/logos to represent clubs. There has been a desire for that.
It would be great if Vampires could get a refresh. It is a pack that would make sense in getting a refresh if any since making a new pack around Vampires is unlikely. It is still pretty good given it was the first to create the skill tree, but it would be nice if the skill tree was made to be a bit more similar to the ones we have in other occult packs and for its lore to be updated to coincide with the lore provided in Werewolves - this could be done with Realm of Magic as well.
The Vampire world is very small and feels it, but a lot of that falls into it being a single residential neighborhood. Realm of Magic and Werewolves at least have more lot types and a "hidden place" you have to find the entrance to in order to get there. It would be nice if Vampires got that as well.
The thing in question is: has Vampires been sorely lacking in sales enough to prompt the attempt of a refresh? If it isn't, I don't see them caring enough. It still would be nice, though.
Lots of the CAS could use a hair overhaul in general for consistency. Like with the complaint about Build/Buy's inconsistency with swatches, the hair needs it in terms of texture, plain swatches for hairs with added colors or decorations and the hair color swatches matching cross the board seamlessly. It is annoying when one style under a swatch is darker, lighter or more saturated than the other.
I have no idea about the Family Aspirations with occults, but the whole option to keep them in their own worlds... Aliens do not have their own world unless you count Sixam. The same works with Mermaids. Sulani isn't really their world either - it is just the place they seem to dock at.
When you say occults likes/dislike category... what exactly do you mean by that? That occults have certain likes and dislikes that only regard them or for there to be a "likes this occult" but "dislikes this occult"?
I kind of find it a shame the playground equipment in Toddler Stuff isn't BG. There are community lots where toddlers will spawn and there is absolutely nothing for them to do. Take the family to a park with playground equipment? Again, nothing for toddlers. I think Kids Room Stuff is fine since BG (Parenthood and Growing Together) at least gives them the stuff toddlers are lacking.
While there is the Magic Realm, it would be nice if Realm of Magic at least had one or two more lots in Glimmerbrook. It would be cool if the bar there had a tendency to attract all the occults there like how Moonwood Mill's does.
My First Pet Stuff should be a lot of things, but I don't see it ever changing sadly...
Though there are builds that make use of Movie Hangout to make cinemas, it isn't geared at that. It is a movie night at home or with friends pack. The popcorn maker is small home appliance. I don't see it ever being updated enough to be more than it is.
Outdoor Retreat expands on BG hobbies with new fish, new plants, bug collecting and provides the Herbalism Skill. I'm down for being able to visit it without having to book a vacation, though. I don't think it *has* to be a residential world for that.
Backyard Stuff has nothing to do with pools.
I don't know enough about the Moschino pack to comment about it.
Some older packs should probably have CAS items added for toddlers and infants if those packs added stuff for kids.
Fitness Stuff probably should have come with more gym stuff that goes beyond the BG, but it did provide the Rock Climbing Wall and the ability to exercise via TV at least and that is pretty much the standard of new gameplay from Stuff Packs.
We've been lucky with the latest Stuff Packs because they gleaned on activities and hobbies that could expand on things already existing as well as add new properties to them. I'll use Crystal Creations for example: It has one new gameplay feature and skill, but the gameplay is great for collectors and other types of gameplay as well be it selling items made, using items as gifts, adding more CAS and having bonus perks if charged.
Older Stuff Packs... the added gameplay features unfortunately just aren't as versatile... So it is less about adding in more build/buy stuff that can introduce more gameplay so much as... the stuff added are limited in function.
I don't really see how Laundry Day Stuff would amount to any sort of Aspiration, much less what the heck it would have to do with cleaning anything outside of laundry...
Stuff Packs in general have little to require a new venue type. Bowling Night makes sense to add in a new venue. Luxury Party does not. What a Disco venue has in common with it is confusing just as much as adding an Aspiration to it is.
DHD is its own thing and like with Dine Out, it needs fixing more than it does a refresh.
I don't see Eco Lifestyle needing a refresh either. It gives new traits, aspirations, activities, skills and gameplay regarding NAP and the change of the environment. It gives plenty.
Growing Together did miss out on making an actual Daycare Career. I doubt they'd go back to insert one. If they ever make it a career, they would likely keep a memo of it to add to a new pack before using it as a refresh feature. Again, Growing Together is a pack that stands very well on its own.
I believe you can do side jobs in Discover University, and quite frankly that is all there needs to be. Just getting all the assignments done, getting to class in time and whatnot... it is hard to do any of the extracurricular meetups as it is. Squeeze in just a part time job is just as hard even if you don't do meetups. So... if adding the ability to do regular careers while in university? I don't really see anyone wanting that challenge...
High School Years tried when it came to drama. There is the aspiration, the extra mischief things and your Sim can get detention or even expelled. It just depends on how hard you try to get these things to happen.
They were good enough to add on more Traits as well as Aspirations.
There ae already four afterschool activities. If you have Get Together you can create a club to make an after school activity. Even more "insecure" already is sort of addressed in Parenthood where depending on how your kid is raised they could have high, medium or low self-esteem.
It is a shame adults didn't get an active career in the pack, but they did get a career at least.
The school bus idea flat out goes under the "wanting cars in general" rather than a refresh feature.
The prom notifications pretty much go in hand with the Calendar problem in general.
'Never bothered with Thrift Tea, but that is what it is... thrifting. What you are looking for sounds more like the retail system in GtW, where you can make clothing stores that your Sims can try on outfits.
I suppose My Wedding Stories could have had a career added in, but what adding drink and ice cream stalls have to do with weddings, I have no idea. Romantic tents sound more like a thing for Love Struck. I definitely think it would be nice to have areas you can travel to quicker, but a lot of players demand open worlds and so far the creators are trying to appease that more via this method.
A make-over feature is another thing I cannot see them adding as a refresh. It is something they would save for a new pack.
Toggling the option regarding fame with Get Famous does not require a refresh, but a tweak in Gameplay settings or maybe via Neighborhood Stories. If a pack comes with at least one new personality trait, it likely doesn't need a refresh by adding more. I don't really see the world needing a refresh in the amount of lots so much as how lots line up with the environment and rebuilding some places.
Your last comment? That is the *main* thing that is needed out of all the things listed thus far.
