Chef Hired at Home But No Food Left Behind

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:Microsoft XBOX One
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.24.69.2300
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Expansions - City Living, Get Famous, Discover University, Seasons, Cats & Dogs, Get to Work. Game Packs - Realm of Magic, Strangerville, Jungle Adventure, Parenthood, Dine Out, Spa Day, Outdoor Retreat. Stuff Packs - Laundry Day, Fitness, Vintage Glamour, Kids Room, Cool Kitchen, Perfect Patio. Free - Holiday Celebrations, Grim's Ghoulish Guitar.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Hire a Chef at home Chef's Station.
What happens when the bug occurs? My Sim wanted to learn experimental food, so I hired a chef from his Chef's Station (for 800 Simoleons), the chef came to his apartment, stood outside for an hour, then entered the apartment to cook, she cooked food at the Chef's Station for over 3 in game hours and then left. There was no food...anywhere. I checked the fridge and my sims inventory but nothing, she just left, leaving nothing behind. Considering the price it costs to hire these idiots, and the time they take to "cook", one would think that there would be at least 1 dish of food, if not more, left behind.
What do you expect to see? I expect to see food, that this "chef" has spent, over 3 in game hours, preparing. She mad a big deal out of spinning the pots and almost setting the apartment on fire when her food burst into flames, you would think she would actually leave what she was cooking behind, you know, the 800 simoleons worth of food.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? On console - never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

Maybe it's just me having this issue but it's annoying when all these little things happen, it sucks the fun out of the game.

  • @SimmerFrustrated Tested this and it seems you need to tell the chef what you want to eat. Once the chef starts cooking, did you click on the chef station to order the food you want ?

That they stood outside for an hour is another matter.
  • Honestly, I don't remember but probably not, I was busy trying to get my sleep deprived sim to cram for an upcoming exam lol. Thanks for checking it out for me! :-)

  • Ok, so I finally got around to testing out your suggestion and it worked, the new chef cooked the food and my sim ate it, however I did noticed that when I ordered one dish I was charged for and given two portions of that one dish. Example I ordered the Volcano Pasta, or whatever it's called, it's priced at 38 simoleons but I was charged 76 simoleons and he left two of the same dish out for my sim to eat. Is this normal? It seems like an extreme waste of money in my opinion, not only are you paying 800 just for the chef to come out, but your also paying for the dish, and being charged for two of the same dish. :-(

@SimmerFrustrated You might also try to check random places for food. I have a very strange bug that my Sim will leave plates on the tall half wall that's inside the house. This is not always a problem since the plates get cleaned up if the Sim is at least neat. I did spend like a month looking for a medicine bottle that I placed inside the world.
  • Yes, only one Sim living in the house, he has since moved in with GF but he was living alone when it happened and he didn't have any guests over, just him and the chef. I tried doing it again before moving him to see if it was a one time thing, but the same thing happened, ordered Glacier Iceberg Lettuce, charged for double and given two of that one dish.

  • Hey @SimmerFrustrated, you should mark the solution accepted on Crinrict's Post #2. This way people will detect that this type of problem has a solution. This is helpful for others. I was looking for solutions for this problem on the search feature and as I saw a Hero responding I looked at it and it paid off, but if I had seen it as solved it would have been better.
