Console players are important too.

PS4 : Every time there's an update,current save game will lag to the point it's unplayable. None of the tips to remedy the problem work when this occurs. The only solution seems to be is to start a b...

    Hey simsplayer818 thanks for the info I will try the inventory and gallery tips when this happens again. Unfortunately,I have already started a new save out of frustration. So I shall employ these tips in this new save. I will post my issues on the other forum asap. Thanks again,as I have never been told to clean up those areas before,which makes sense.

Another tip is to keep bringing up the Game Options box and closing it down again. That clears the lag for me. Sometimes I have to repeat that a couple of times. I usually need to do it while going in and out of build mode or CAS. I'm on Xbox Series X and had this problem on Series S and Xbox one.

Thanks but I have done this... It does not work after major updates to The Sims 4. My existing save file begins to lag to the point of unplayable. But if I start a new save file after such an update,the new save file will behave normally. I also haven't mentioned losing control of the mouse pointer in game. This happens too frequently as well. I'll be playing and suddenly my mouse pointer will stop responding properly,unable to navigate any menu's as the pointer will bounce around and not stay on or go to the item I am trying to click on. The only way to solve this is to close the entire game.

    @trewlady Has the mouse pointer issue just started this year? Various consoles have had problems with this since the January update, Patch 1.69 and we've made the team aware of it.
    There's a thread here just solely for controller issues where feedback is being taken by EA:

    So that's the place to mention your pointer problem. I've had that as well and just as you say, it requires shutting down the game to get it back.

    I found another Solved post about ps4 lag with another tip to try here that involves bringing up the inventory to clear the lag, see the last post:

    Just like you've done here, it should get a reply for you. Give as much technical info as you can about your console. There are bug reports about lagging at specific times so it may result in a bug report. You should get a response there anyway.

    A few more tips, check your Sim total. In Game Options it will show your maximum allowed. Check you're not near or over your limit. Move some Sims over to Other Households to free up space. Check your library isn't extremely full and trim it down if it is and do the same with Other Households. I've found that clearing all the Library content that arrives with updates and new content can help. Those pre made houses and Sims I don't intend to use just take up space. I usually keep Other Households under about 100 or I find my game becomes unstable. I cull extraneous NPCs about once a week because I put my extra households there so I don't need hundreds of Townies too. Also, if you have a few previous households go back through them and clear their personal and household/ build inventories and always clear inventories before switching households. This includes emptying fridges too. Carrying multiple inventories can cause lags and crashes.

    But with the seriousness of the problem for you, another option is a help call with your manufacturer. I've had to do this before but have only tried it with Microsoft. It was actually really helpful for me.

        @trewlady I know that feeling well! I started a totally new save in January as I couldn't play at all. I lost around 200 Sims, it's awful to see all that work gone. But the good news is that by using these tips I've mentioned it's so far been running a lot better for me.

      Thank you for the tip! I didn’t know my gallery saves were slowing my game down (on the Xbox console). Deleting unused houses, characters, etc., has my game(s) loading better than before. ❣️

        @TDaise22 Glad it helped. I do this about once a week to stay on top of it. Like a game maintenance I suppose.
