error code 13

I’m currently having the same issue. I noticed it started around the time I started a small business

Flower_The_Mouse​  Do you use mods or custom content?  Did you create the build from scratch, or did you download something from the Gallery?  If the latter, please link the Gallery upload, or name the creator and lot so I can find it.

Just setting up my first small business in a small business venue. Tried to save the lot, and got "Error message 13. Game didn't save." Last time this happened, they fixed it by returning to a much earlier save and I lost almost a RL year of progress. I just bought Enchanted By Nature, and now I can't play again until I can be sure I won't lose all my progress. I don't want this to be the third time I've lost a large amount of progress on Sims 4. I've got over 5,000 hours and almost no progress saved. Please, I need help.

I have a pristine clean install; no mods or CC. I also have ALL the EPs, GPs, Stuff Packs, Kits, and 
Event Content, plus other Maxis freebies.

JulianneALee​  I've merged your post with a longer thread about this issue.  This seems to be related to using certain mods on a small business lot, or downloading an existing small business lot that had those mods in place.  Did you start with a build from the Gallery, or with a blank lot or in-game build?

I don't know of a way to fix the problem other than possibly bulldozing the lot.  But you can revert to the newest save from before you started building this lot, or if you don't have one, then the oldest backup you do have.  It's possible it wasn't affected.  Here's how to load a backup:

You can use "save as" when trying to save so that you don't overwrite any of your current saves or backups.

I just started getting the "The game failed to save. Error Code: 13" today as well. I wasn't building, downloading from gallery or running a business, My sim simply live on campus in Britechester, and suddonly the game won't save anymore. At first it worked with "Save As" but now that doesn't work anymore either. It doesn't help to travel, also tried to recover the app without luck. 

Anyone that doesn't use mod's can fix this error by running a repair through the EA app. 

I got this code last night after trying to save multiple times and it's never happened until I downloaded hobbies. This is what happened then what i tried: I bought a lot in the game *code 13*, went back to home lot *code 13*, sold the lot after looking seeing it could be a problem with a molded lot even thought I only built walls and a roof *code 13*, then got abducted *code 13*. After closing out the game, there was ANOTHER update waiting but couldn't because I didn't have enough space. I just knew the hobbies pack wasn't the biggest file I have. Turns out it was the photos/videos that I was transferring to a flash drive and forgot to delete off my computer. After the update, enabled my mods/cc, and my save finally went through.
