Everything stops

After this update, a few minutes into my gameplay, everything would stop, even the game time (this would happen through all my saves). Played and NPC Sims will remain in any action they are performing or be frozen in place. I also can't seem to interact or click anything. I can't stop any interactions or I can't make my sims interact with anything. The environment around continues to move (trees, water, etc), so it isn't a full game freeze. I can open the menu but it doesn't pause the game and when I attempt to save, it takes forever. Clicking "exit the game" or "exit to the main menu" both don't work. When I click exit the game, it just doesn't do it, and I have to force to shut the game down. When I click exit to the main menu, I go through an endless loading screen. I could only get a few minutes of gameplay before everything and everyone would stop interacting.

I use mods and cc but I don't think they could be the cause since I checked through them to see if any were broken or outdated. The game was working fine yesterday until the latest update.
