My sims are frozen

When I load into my game my sims will work as normal for not even 20 seconds before freezing.

Ive tried:

  • turning my mods/cc off
  • resetting characters with cheats
  • clearing cache and restarting ea app

please can anybody help me I’ve been playing this save for a while and would hate to not be able to play it anymore

update: I tested traveling with my house hold to a random lot and everything was fine and when I traveled back to their house they all froze again.

I've also tried saving my family and starting a new game, they worked normally so I’m thinking it’s something to do with the save?

  • jenniferhx Have you tried pulling your mods folder out and running the game to see if your sims do the same thing?  I suspect one or more mods are the source of your problem.  If the game runs smoothly without mods, then you'll have to go through the mods folder and update or delete the mods causing the problem.

    Hope this helps.

    Thankyou for replying

    I’ll give it a try.

would that mean me pulling the mod folder out of the sims folder or just taking the mods out of the mod folder? sorry I’m not very computer savvy lol

I've tried taking my mods folder out and its still frozen

  • jenniferhx  Since you can travel to other lots and the game doesn't freeze, then it must be something with the lot or lot/sim combination.  So, you'll need to do some testing. Make a copy of the save and put it somewhere safe first. Now, one thing you can do is move the household to another lot (sell the furniture).  Don't forget to put the contents of all the containers, photos and collectables into a household sim's inventory, before you move so you don't lose them.  You could try saving a copy of the lot to your library and placing the on an empty lot and move the household into that if you want them in the same house.  I'd try that first tbh and if it doesn't work, try another house.  If it doesn't work with either the copy of the original lot or with another house, then you'll know the problem is with one of the sims.  You can also move a random sim into the original lot to see if it still freezes up.  If it does, then you'll know the problem is with the lot.  One finial thing you can do is move the sim out of the house and keep the furniture.  Then move a sim back in to see if it still freezes up.  That'll clear any invisible objects and residue left behind by deleted objects or sims.  If it works, then you'll need to refurnish the house.  You can move the original sims back in if you want and test if it is still freezing.  If the problem has gone away, then you can put all the things you previously placed in your sim's inventory back where they were originally.

If nothing I've mentioned above works, then come back and we'll go from there.

    Hope this helps.
