- I think they are mad in regards of their items being downloaded and someone else taking credit for their creation by uploading the item again without giving credit to the original creator.

That’s mostly confined to the #stopstealing, but I have noticed people getting mad about reuploads (that show the original creator) even when it’s obvious stuff has been changed just by the packs used.
Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is at least partially because the current default gallery filter is set to “popular now” which seems to constantly feature stuff by the same people. - Hermitgirl8 years agoSeasoned AceIt's the drama there. There have been a number of threads here about stuff that people go through there (or put themselves through).
- it's probably typical gallery drama
which is always "yikes" material - I haven't visited the gallery in months thx to my injury, but I recall something from, I don't know, 6-12 months ago? --about a workaround some simmers were exploiting that gave them huge, fake, download numbers, thus allowing them to dominate the 'popular now' category. The simmers who uncovered this cheating reported it to EA; iirc I saw a bug report on the exploit.
False-flagging had to do with knowingly flagging content that in no way violated the rules, as someone mentioned above.
I'm sorry to hear those problems are still ongoing.
As to stolen credit, at the time I had to stop gallery-visiting, rooms and sims were still very easily copied without getting the 'original by' notation. Houses were the only thing that reliably kept the 'original by' note. Many simmers still don't like having their houses re-uploaded.
Discussions about these topics usually turn into flame wars, don't they? Let's not go there. - janyses8 years agoSeasoned Ace

It was typed by another simmer that she's following on the gallery. It's not anything official from EA. - LaBlue03148 years agoSeasoned Ace

Yes, sorry I didn't mention it, but they had written it in their bio section on the gallery. It really freaked me out when I saw it. - I belive their working on a Gallery Update and testing features. They did say they were going to try to stop people from uploading other peoples stuff and claiming it as their own. We have another gallery update coming before the end of the year.
- @QueenMercy yeah that is why I automatically click on “newest” and I won’t download anything that’s been downloaded over 150 times because I like showing love for creators whose creations don’t get as much notice, but are really good.
- People take the gallery waaayyy too seriously.
Judging from what comes up in recent uploads (especially the ones with unrelated names) I'm pretty sure that an awful lot of gallery uploads are done by people just trying to save a build or household, not even intending to upload it.
People raise drama treating the gallery like a virtual goods marketplace with actual intellectual property.. which it's not.
I can understand the frustration to some degree, but unlike virtual world trade, The Sims actually is "just a game." At least with mods and CC, there's legit new content. But your sim family or house is part of playing the game, and when people are uploading to the gallery they're rarely using their own new content; they're just uploading a part of their own game. I want to say "if it feels like work, you're doing it wrong," but that's not fair because you can play your own game however you like. But.. you can't expect other people to see it the way you do. It's not reasonable to get mad at other people for seeing the game as a game.
