How Can I Restore My Progress (Old Games) In My Sims 4 Game?

While I was playing the Sims 4 game (on my Mac laptop) with MODS & Scripts, the loading screen started to go extremely slow after downloading new Trays & Packages which was ALOT to download. Then I shut down my Mac completely, I logged back into Origin and turned on the Sims 4 game, and the loading screen was still going slow. Then I did a Google search on how to not let the loading screen go extremely slow again, so I found this one Youtube video explained on how to stop letting the Sims 4 loading screen go slow, but the person in the video was using a Windows system for this Sims 4 loading screen situation. I thought it would work for the same thing for Mac. The person in the video stated to copy the original Electronic Arts (for Sims 4) folder and paste it into a different place on what I have for Mac is "Finder" which is where all documents, downloads, etc. go on there. I pasted that original Electronic Arts (Sims 4 Folder) and pasted it to my "Desktop" section on Finder. Then after copying ALL of the MODS, MOD Scripts, and Tray items into the new Electronic Arts (Sims 4 Folder), as instructed by the person from the Youtube video, for the "Desktop" section on Finder, I turned on the Sims 4 Game and It was a whole new game as if I just bought it for the first time.  Which is expected from the Youtube video demonstration. All of the MODS, MOD Scripts, and Tray Items were not showing up at the startup of the Sims 4 Game like it usually would. Even all of my CC homes, buildings, etc. were deleted on the Gallery at the start up on the Sims 4 game. Then I exited the game and turned it on again. FYI, The person from the Youtube video also stated to repair the game on Origin, which I did and it was an option to restart the Sims 4 Game, therefore I decided to do that. After I went back on the Sims 4 Game, it was still a whole new game again as if I bought it for the first time. I did enable the MODS on "Other" section for the Sims 4 settings and the MODS,MOD Scripts, and Tray Items still didn't show up. So now I have two Electronic Arts folders  called - Electronic Arts old (which was the original folder for the Sims 4 game, when I first bought the Sims 4) and Electronic Arts (which is the new folder that I transferred all the MODS and Tray items there from the original folder). I also did copy all the MODS, MOD Scripts, and Tray items back to the Electronic Arts old folder (the original folder), and when I turned on the Sims 4 game again, it was still the same thing as if it was an entirely whole new game. I don't really have anything backup from my last Sims 4 Games, which was silly, I know. Lastly, I've seen something on Google that stated about the "saves" folder under the Electronic Arts Folder for Sims 4, but I only see Slot_00000002.save and Slot_00000002.save.ver0, and it still didn't change anything. The game still look fresh and new. What should I do?

You're on a Mac, not Windows. They are not the same.

All of your saves, mods, and user data needs to be in User > Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 for the game to try and load it. If it isn't it will create a new Sims 4 folder and create new files.

I think you're saying you moved the Sims 4 folder to the desktop and then did a bunch of other stuff and now nothing is loading. It sounds like you've moved important files to differing locations. Please read this and see if you can figure out where the files are you need to move back into the correct location https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/READ-FIRST-Sims-4-Mac-Help-Guides-and-Troubleshooting/m-p/4612398#M163

Hi and Thank you so much! I think I was too late to do what the article you sent for me regarding the steps. I just decided to use the new Sims 4 folder that created itself with new files,  and I've already redownloaded a few old Mods I've had before so far.

Did you trash the save files and empty the bin? If not they will still be on your Mac and can be moved into the new Sims 4 > saves folder 🙂

Hi, I deleted it or the Sims 4 game removed the save file itself when the new Sims 4 Folder was created. Everything got deleted on the old Sims 4 folder, and it's not even in the "Trash" on my Mac. Thank you for your help and responding back to my question/post 🙂

The game doesn't remove any saves from the Sims 4 folder. Try a full search of your Mac using Terminal. Open Terminal, copy/paste the following command then hit Enter:

Please open Terminal and copy and paste the following command then hit Enter/Return:

    find / -type f -name "*Slot_*" 2>/dev/null

After a little while it will return the results of the search. Please copy and paste the results in a post here.

Thanks. That save - Slot_00000044 - looks like it may still be in your iCloud trash. You can check by signing into iCloud in a web browser then going to Drive then Recently Deleted. Maybe that is one of your old saves?

No problem. 🙂 I did everything you told me, but it said "No items" under the "Recently Deleted". Plus, my iCloud storage is full on my Mac, so there is no space. Maybe that's why it didn't show up?

It's okay, I've already started to redownload old Mods and downloaded new Mods. Thank you so much for your time and help! 🙂 I appreciate it!
