1st Nov update

I see that many people have different issues after today's update of the game. Mine was that the game just simply shut down in mid-play, no questions asked so to speak. I've restarted the game and all my progress was of course gone, had to do it all again.

On another EA forum, someone posted Sims 4 quit working and can't load game after update.  Me and one other person said me too.  Why isn't everyone posting about this messed up update?

  • Lolita_Nocturna  Please provide a dxdiag.  Hit Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

Probably because it's not messed up for everyone, just a small-ish subset of players.  If you personally would like help, please describe your issue in more detail, and provide a dxdiag as well.

Mine updated fine, after I opened it and hit resume then it just kept going to show all residential worlds for me to pick one. After I picked it and a household, it returned to picking the worlds.  I tried multiple repairings, uninstalling and reinstalling, and did a dxdig. It said everything was fine. I do not what to do. Help please.

  • nikolinaj  Please try a new save, for comparison's sake, and let me know whether you can play there.

If you get an error code when trying to load a household in the old save or the new one, please post a screenshot of that as well.

And I would like to see a full dxdiag, saved as a .txt file.  You can attach it to your reply using the paper clip icon.

  • nikolinaj  Your dxdiag lists a few generic Windows update errors, so please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

Please let me know whether a new save works, and whether you get an error code when trying to load your current save.  I see some details in your dxdiag that might be issues, but nothing definitive, so this could be a save or game issue rather than a computer issue.  I don't want to waste your time addressing potential system issues if they're not causing problems with Sims 4.
