Build Mode freezes frequently

For the last six months or so, I have not been able to play in build mode for long periods of time without my game freezing. It also varies. I can play for hours, then it'll freeze. I can play for 20 minutes and it will freeze, and the cycle will rinse and repeat several times until I give up and do something else. I don't know why each session is different, but there was one day I played the sims four about 3 hours and my build mode froze six times.

This can be extremely frustrating because my game will literally sit frozen until I sign out of Windows, or completely restarted my computer (record is about 45 minutes of my game sitting frozen until I did something). I have no idea if this is a game issue or a PC issue, but I was wondering if there were troubleshooting options that my technologically impaired self could try to see if this issue can be resolved. 

I do have mods installed, but the freezing issue does still occur whether or not the mods were installed. That was the first thing I checked. Also, these issues began after a base game update a while ago. I cannot remember which one, but I distinctly remember my game operating fine until a base game update, and then all of a sudden my game will freeze while being in build mode and losing progress if I don't save every 60 seconds. 

Any ideas or suggestions??

    corgisim​  Please try replacing the lot with something else and/or bulldozing it entirely.  Once you've done so, use "save as" to create a new save slot (so you don't overwrite your progress), quit the game, reload it, and see whether you can build on that lot.

    Please also test that lot in a new save.  Don't place any builds from the Gallery or your own library.

    I've been having the same issue.  In the Key Point lot in Sulani, every time I enter build mode.  I can play (in build mode) for about 1 minute until everything I try becomes unresponsive. None of the build mode features work.  I can't build or demolish anyting.  If I try to return to live mode, it freezes. If I try to exit the game, it freezes.  I've tried repairing the game twice through the EA App.  That didn't work.  I don't use mods. This has been happening since the sponge bob promotion started.  I have not downloaded any of that content and have no intention to.

    bdevonm2​  If you still need help with this issue, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

    Please also let me know whether you've noticed any kind of pattern to what you do before the game freezes.  For example, maybe you're placing debug items, or at least you have in that session; or you're building on a particular lot or in a specific world; or you've downloaded a lot from the Gallery and are in the process of editing it.
