Game Will not Launch with mods

I know you don't support mods. Not what I am asking. I play on Steam and all my purchases have been made through Steam. This has been happening since a last update yesterday or day before. I can removed mods folder and it goes into game. However, when I get in game and look to turn off mods I cannot turn off Script which has been this way for some time now. I tried verifying files and it said there were 58 that failed and would need to reacquire. I uninstalled reinstalled Sims 4 and verified again and all was good. I also repaired and reinstalled EA app. Still  will not go into game with mods. I find it very odd and I have went through since last big patch made sure my mods were updated and was able to play with mods. Until this last update/or whatever it was. It loaded quickly whatever it was. That is when all the problems started with mods. I have went back through and made sure they are all updated and reloaded with fresh ones. I am at a loss as to why it will not allow mods now but was fine before the last short update. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Is anyone else having this issue?

  • Phaewalker  I'm not talking about that Sims 4 folder.  That's the user folder.  I'm talking about the one that contains the game's program files, with subfolders like Data, Delta, and Game.

This is my screenshot of when I try to log in to Sims 4.

  • Phaewalker  Right, that's a component of the EA App, and normally the error is resolved by uninstalling and reinstalling the App.

What do you see inside C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts?  Don't search for "electronic arts"; open this location manually.  You can do so by clicking This PC in the left panel of a File Explorer window, then double-clicking the C drive.  If there is an EA Desktop folder inside this Electronic Arts folder, delete it.  If you can't delete it, close out all EA processes (and Steam too) in the Task Manager and try again.

I have run CCleaner as requested, removed EA Folder, Rebooted computer and this is my attempt at trying to install the EA App  which all searches say it is not on my computer. When I click the download to install it It only offers to Launch or repair this shows the message that I get to attempt to launch. When I use repair it says something along the lines of I have to reboot to finish installation. However, in rebooting there is still no EA App on my computer and if I attempt to repair and not launch it tell me required app is missing. I do not know what else I am supposed to do. The game can not be played without the app and I cannot get the app to  install. I have the revo showing the app is not there. The other is my program file for uninstalling apps which clearly you can see the EA app is not there. All searches say App is not there and hitting launch  shown here says path does not exist.  What now?

  • Phaewalker  In case this is a system issue, I would suggest doing a repair install of Windows.  This isn't a full reinstall but is as close as you can get without losing your data.  Delete the same EA Desktop folder again (in Program Files\Electronic Arts, not in Documents; the folder in Documents is not relevant here) before you start.  Here's how to do a repair install:

Once you've done this, download another fresh copy of the EA App installer (delete the ones you already have) and run it as an administrator again.  Try to open the EA App by itself, not through launching Sims 4.  The link2EA error should only happen when you're running an EA game through Steam, so if you're seeing that in a different context, that itself is odd.  Make sure Steam isn't running in the background.

All repair done and still App will not install.  I tried repair when there was either Launch/Repair choice. However, it went through the process needed to reboot did so hoping to actually see the app on my desktop but it wasn't. No where on my computer. Checking Program and Documents no EA Folder.  Now what?

My husband came in and started checking some things and found a file on my system that should not have been then he made sure all apps were removed from downloads and the app repaired and installed and was able to get in the game . It is clean game I can now get in the game. Thank you so much for your patient and help.

  • Phaewalker  Do you mean your computer had a virus, or was some other program blocking the EA App?  If it's a regular program (not malware), I'd like to know what it is, in case someone else has the same issue.

And glad to hear it's fixed.
