Game will not make it past the splash screen

Every time I launch the game, it crashes at the exact same moment, right after the "Sims 4" splash screen just as the theme music begins. And there's no error message.

This happens whether I install through Steam or EA Play, same result each time.

I've tried several fixes posted on other threads and nothing has helped.

I've cleared the cache, updated drivers, reinstalled the game and EA app multiple times.
