New update destroyed my game : /

Ever since the newest base game update (10/22?), my game gets stuck on infinite loading with my household lot. All other lots load fine except my  own lot I built. I ended up building a completely new home and some of my mods are broken and in build mode my game sometimes crashes after a few minutes up to an hour. Also I tried playing in live mode and all my infant-child sims aged up immediately on the same day at the same time. I had to turn off auto age on played households. as well as, the pets from my previously played households in the same save file died at the same time.. Just pop up after pop up of all my children aging up and all my pets dying.. None of these problems have occurred from CC. I've deleted about 3,000 files of old cc as well as deleting duplicate files and updating all my current CC. I even tried switching my game to DX9 but it still just crashes after 2 minutes in build mode. I also turned off my mods and CC and tested my game after clearing .localthumbcache and repairing the game, which might I add, takes F O R E V E R if you have a decent amount of packs :( . I'm literally just waiting for the next update now, the game is completely unplayable right now and I've tried everything for the past almost 2 weeks. I've been playing the sims 4 since 2015 and a patch has never destroyed my game this bad. It's so disappointing and sad.. I just want to play with my sim self and family, it's my favorite save :(.

I feel that this is on purpose to get us to not use mods and cc. I have NEVER in 20 years had to update this game as much as I have in the past year this is absolutely ridiculous and at this point, I'm only still here because I have gave this incompetent excuse for a game developer far too much money to leave but why for the love of all that is real in this world can't EA play test this mess before releasing it. I am done having a buggy game and I have paid enough for it to NOT be buggy. DO BETTER EA and bring back the Origin app that actually worked. I have everything EVER released for the Sims and I'm ready to just throw in the towel and move to the new one that is being released

  • BRAZILIAN_GODESS  A game update doesn't delete saves on its own.  It's possible your saves are still present but not read by the game, or that they've been pushed to cloud storage.  Please see the first post of this thread for more information:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/PC/CURRENT-ISSUE-Sims-4-saves-user-content-disappearing-PC/td-p/12475370

If the saves themselves are truly gone, it's a system issue, or perhaps you installed the game itself in the same location as your user data, in which case an update could clear out everything not related to the game's program files.  But it's not an inherent flaw with the update itself.

Didn't happen until the update, and I did all the above mentioned

BRAZILIAN_GODESS  The EA App budgets extra space for updates, which can make Windows think you don't have enough space on your internal drive.  That, in turn, can cause Windows to push data to cloud storage and remove it from your internal drive.  This doesn't get reversed when the EA App releases the space again once the update is done.

And again, if you installed Sims 4 in the same location as your user data, that would also explain the issue and be entirely unsurprising.

Neither of these is a flaw with the Sims 4 update.  You could argue that the first is bad design of the EA App, but the second is an unfortunate error on the user side.

Hi I had the exact same issue but it got fixed using two mods. This is the thread I made about it just follow the instructions.

  • angela2648  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.  Let me know which problems, if any, are still present.

If you get another crash, please provide a dxdiag.  Hit Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the camera (Insert Media) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

  • c1ndylou76  Updates break mods and cc, but they also fix bugs and introduce new features.  It's a trade-off; you can't have one without the other.  If the goal were to avoid breaking mods at all, the developers would be severely constrained in what they could accomplish.

If you don't like this, there are plenty of games that are already out of development, for example Sims 3.  Those aren't in danger of suddenly updating and breaking your third-party content.

  • The recent update, literally cleared all my saves, my households and I spent HOURS making my twitch friends. I'm so update, nothing I did worked. I want a refund on packs bought. Just as a former tester on this game, it should have been caught before release
