Please update your game via Origin to play
I have only gotten to play this game maybe once since June. It is a different error every time.
Please someone help me figure out what is going on and why there is always something wrong now. I simply can not keep doing this every update and get no help from EA anymore. There must be something we all can do as consumers.
Anyway, I have never used CC or mods. When I first logged in i didn't get an error message the game just wouldn't open. I had a driver update so I did that. Then I got this message: "unable to start: there was an error processing the startup configuration script." I deleted cache and repaired my game. Now I get "The contents of your user data directory were created by newer version of the Sims 4 and cannot be loaded. Please update your game via Origin to play" which seems to be an old error message. We don't use Origin anymore and any posts I see are from at least 3 years ago. I deleted my sims files completely and redownloaded the game. I am still getting this error.

Nothing like being a simmer and fixing you're own problem without EAs help.
All I did was go to documents- electronic arts and then delete my entire Sims 4 folder. Then I went back into the EA app and launched Sims.
Please be sure to save a copy of your Tray folder for your library and saves for your save files. Add these back in later.
