Sims 4 Infinite Loading Screen November 2024

Hi everyone,

I'm running into an issue when I try to load my most recent save in The Sims 4. The game launches fine from the EA app, but when I click the Resume button to go back into my most recently accessed save file/household, I get stuck on an infinite loading screen.

As a troubleshooting step, I moved the Sims 4 folder from my Electronic Arts folder to my desktop and was able to launch a new game successfully. However, I’d really like to get back to my established save, as I've been building and playing in these worlds for generations and have put a lot of work into customizing my Sims and their lots. I also don’t use any CC or mods, so those aren’t causing the issue.

Any advice on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

  • pupkwt  This has been a problem since the For Rent patch, although some lots only broke later.  The only good workaround is to place the lot without furniture, unfortunately.  Although if you can load the house with furniture in build mode, you could do some experimenting: delete one room at a time to see which ones contain items that cause infinite loading.  You might even be able to figure out the exact items that are a problem if you're patient enough.

Then again, you might not even be able to do anything after placing the lot with furniture, as is the case for many players.  When that happens, there's nothing you can do except wait for a future patch to possibly fix the problem.

I fixed. It was because of furniture cc but then like a day later the problem just kept coming back. This problem has only been occuring on a my Residental Rental lot.

Lots that I know have issues and will crash your game or cause the infinite loading screen glitch:
    - Red Roan Field (64x 64)
    - Sulani: Cheiftans Villa (40x30)
    - San My Shuno: 1010 Alto apartment

  • KaraKoala-97  Please move your save, but nothing else yet, to the new Sims 4 folder, and see whether you can load your main household.  If you can't, please try loading a different household instead, an unplayed one that lives in a different world.  You can use Load Game rather than Resume, which will put you in Manage Worlds and allow you to choose any household in any world.  Let me know whether this works.

Please also open Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 and delete any lastexception files you find.  If you can't load your main household in the new folder, look for a new LE, and if you find one, open it and delete its first line, then attach it to a reply here using the paper clip (Attachment) icon.

Hi, facing the same issue of infinite loading screen. Tried the Load Game option for another family and managed to load the game, without cc and mods. Then I tried to add Tray, Mods etc back and same infinite loading screen issue cropped up again. Could not load any family at all even with Load Game. How now... 😩

Hello, also affected by this issue, what i noticed that few buy/build cc was causing that so i removed it, but still i have the issue that if i travel for example from Selvadorada to SAn Sequoia it gets stuck again with the loading issue.

Just thinking this maybe be related with the Reaper's challenge? i heard there was issues with traveling while doing the challenge

      Thank you!

Hi, thanks for your help! After testing and restarting alot of times, I've narrowed down the problem to two lots. Both of which were occupied. I managed to move the families out and they are playable in other lots, so I think the problem boils down to the houses within these two lots.

I can enter these two lots when they are empty of furniture. But when I try to replace the lot with an older version (with furniture, that I saved from a long time ago in my library) I get stuck at the same infinite loading screen when I try to re enter. Could it be the placement of the objects that is causing this problem rather than the object itself?

My game seems to be recently updated by Steam. This problem happened right after. Im not sure if that played a part.
