I also have this same issue. I feel like I have tried everything. My game is up to date. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the base game and all of the packs. I have taken all mods out. I have started a whole new game. Nothing stops this freezing issue; the clock consistently stops in the game and Sims just can't do anything. Please help it's driving me crazy!!
@britneyalea Is is possible you have this issue?
If so, please try one of the workarounds described in that post.
If that's not your issue, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

@Kayla999 Since you've started a new save, it sounds like the above isn't your issue, so I'd like to see a dxdiag from your computer as well.
Can you please explain how I do that?! Sorry, I’ve not really used these forums before. Thanks for your reply.
Hi again, I managed to do it so I have attached my DxDiag. Thanks for your help so far.
@Kayla999 The dxdiag crashed while running (not anything you did, don't worry) and is missing much of the relevant information. So please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:
- Hit Windows key-X
- Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
- Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes into the window, and enter
- The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
- After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
- Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Command prompt (Administrator)”
- Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes into the window, and enter
- Post the message you receive here
Restart the computer and run another dxdiag. I don't want to make any other suggestions until I know what kind of computer and hardware you have, which will hopefully be included in the new dxdiag.
Hiya. This is the message I received from PowerShell:
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
PS C: \WINDOWS\system32>I'm just about to restart my laptop and do another dxdiag and I will post it to you on here.
Many thanks.
Here is another dxdiag, I hope it didn't crash this time.
@Kayla999 Unfortunately, the dxdiag did crash, and it's missing exactly the same information as before. When you run the dxdiag, what do you see on the initial page that pops up? Does it have information like time and date, machine name, Windows build, etc., or is it blank other than the categories? That's the info I'm most curious about.
If it is still blank, hit Windows key-i, select System > About, copy the info under Device Specifications, and paste it here. Please delete the product and device IDs; I'm just interested in the rest.
Right ok, I think I did it correctly this time. I hadn't realised it was all blank before but now there is info that wasn't there before so here is the latest one...
@Kayla999 That looks much better—the dxdiag has all the relevant information, and it didn't crash.
Given the errors in your dxdiags, the place to start is with a clean uninstall and reinstall of the graphics driver. (I couldn't suggest this without knowing what model you had, since I wouldn't know what driver to link.) Download Display Driver Uninstaller from here:
https://www.wagnardsoft.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3300
Download a fresh copy of the newest Intel driver for your laptop, the one dated January 21, from Asus:
https://www.asus.com/me-en/Laptops/ASUS-ZenBook-Flip-UX360CA/HelpDesk_Download/
Next, take your computer completely offline—disable wifi and/or pull the ethernet cord—and double-click the DDU.exe. Take note of where the file will land, and click Extract. If it's easier, you can copy the path and then paste it into the address bar in a File Explorer window. Open the folder and then launch Display Driver Uninstaller.exe, and you'll get a message that you're not in Safe Mode. Click OK, then go to Options and enable Safe Mode dialog. Here's a screenshot of what your options should look like; make sure the box in red is checked:
Close options, and the DDU, and then open the DDU.exe again. For launch options, choose "Safe Mode (Recommended)," and then click Reboot to Safe Mode (you'll need your password, so find it before rebooting). Once you login, you'll see this:
In the blue box, choose GPU, then Intel if it's not already showing. Then click Clean and Restart (red box).
Once your computer has rebooted, now back in normal mode, run the driver install .exe as an admin: right-click on the download and select "Run as administrator." Restart your computer again before trying to play, and let me know how it goes.
