Sims 4 Oct Break. Any Solutions?

Game updated, yes I removed my mods and CC. I tried starting it up without any mods or cc in it, well I can't. My game won't load. It sits on the loading screen and doesn't do anything. I can't tab out of the game, it won't load, I literally can't do anything. I end up having to manually turn my computer off and then back on. I've tried repairing the game from the EA app. Nothing works. Any solutions? Do we know if a bug fix is coming????

  • mikakala  Please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If the game still won't load, please provide a dxdiag.  Hit Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the camera (Insert Media) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

puzzlezaddictTHAT WORKED!!! It loaded and let me play a new game. Can I add my save folder into the clean folder?

  • mikakala  Go right ahead.  I'm not sure whether your game wouldn't load to the Main Menu, or you couldn't load a save, but either way, moving over your saves is the next step.

If the Main Menu loads fine but you can't load an old save, please try again, using Load Game rather than Resume.  If that save loads to the Manage Worlds screen, try loading a different household and let me know whether it works.

puzzlezaddictPreviously, I was able to load the main menu, but not a game. Like you said, I added my saves and tried resuming and tried loading game. Neither one worked. I last left off at my sim's wedding at a venue I downloaded from the gallery. So it went to the map, I selected my house, and selected a sim to play. It got stuck on the loading screen. It plays the little tune right before it usually loads the game, but it just stayed on the loading screen. Again, I had to manually shut down my computer. I tried again, but selected a family member in another world and that worked. Is my primary household just gone?

puzzlezaddictI was able to get to my primary household by selecting a family member in another world and then go to manage worlds and selected the primary household and select one of the sims to play. When it loaded, it popped up a message that read "The game failed to load. Error Code: 121:9f601280:844d8373. It is recommended that you relaunch the game." I selected "ok", and was able to play the game. I didn't save before leaving, cause then my sim randomly aged up and then another family member died. It did give me the option to save. Any idea what the message means? Or how to fix it?

  • mikakala  A double load (load the household or lot, get an error, reload that same household/lot without leaving Manage Worlds) is a known troubleshooting step for this kind of problem.  It clears out some mod-related data that could be generating the error in the first place.  So you could try doing the same thing again to see whether the save plays normally.

There have been some issues reported with sims aging up too early, but the most recent problem I've seen that wasn't entirely mod-related was fixed in patch 1.110:

If this keeps happening to your sims, and a death might be an early age-up for an elder, I'd suggest disabling aging for at least a sim-day, and saving that way (use "save as" to create a new save rather than overwriting your current one), then quitting and reloading before reenabling aging.  And do check the sims' personal info to see whether their current ages have changed.
